He could tackle alright. well Said I was just a teen when I watched Colin Cameron but I wish I could watch him his an an adult to properly appreciate him. If you wanted physicality and domination of a player then McLaren, Berry and Gregor Stevens we’re players you wanted. Berry’s tackle on Paul Wright is legendary. If you wanted a ball winner to play the ball after he won it, Flogel, Tomashek, Brellier and the late great Salvatori were the guys you wanted. That was partly because we started the season with Roddy MacDonald as the proper centre half and Levein in midfield, his usual position up to then. Around October, MacDonald was injured, Levein went back to play beside Jardine, and instantly we became unbeatable (until May, sadly). I don't know whether the plan had always been to move Levein to defence or whether it was just one of these happy experiments that went completely right. Among other things, it meant we had central defenders who could stroke the ball around, and Henry always played the ball short, sometimes frustrating our 'get it up the park' fans. That meant the number 5 shirt, which would always have been for a central defender, was taken by a midfielder, Berry, who had a great season. If only we had picked up some more points at the begining of the season.. I don't think Neil was a midfielder by trade but did a very effective job in there.
