Any old Sparta (Clermiston) boys from the late 70's out there ?

 

Couple of questions .....

can anyone remember the surname of Ivan who ending up scouting for Dunfermline and His (I think) ?

and ..  did Sparta morph into Edinburgh Spartans ?

You've got me intrigued as I was born in Clermiston. Spartans were formed in 1951 by Edinburgh University students as a university football club and the Edinburgh University Association Football Club did originally have its playing field in Corstorphine so there is a connection, albeit slightly vague, between Spartans and Corstorphine/Clermiston. Whether the two clubs were ever distinct I don't know. Here's a link:

Thanks for your reply TD, I hadn't realised Spartans were formed in the 50's so maybe Sparta took their name from the Spartans.

Our pitch was near Clermiston Hill and had changing rooms and a bowling green at the topside.

Wasn't in that team mate, great photo though :thumb: I was 18's in '78/79.

Doesn't the name Tam McLeod ring a bell ?

No mate.That photo was taken at Saughton Enclosure 1977 Sparta under 12s.

won this in the summer of '79  a final played at Saughton Park, Tam Milne in goals, Stuart Peel left wing, I played left back, I was 11
