Drumelzier
Any old Sparta (Clermiston) boys from the late 70's out there ? Couple of questions ..... can anyone remember the surname of Ivan who ending up scouting for Dunfermline and His (I think) ? and .. did Sparta morph into Edinburgh Spartans ? Cheers
Tokyo Drifter
You've got me intrigued as I was born in Clermiston. Spartans were formed in 1951 by Edinburgh University students as a university football club and the Edinburgh University Association Football Club did originally have its playing field in Corstorphine so there is a connection, albeit slightly vague, between Spartans and Corstorphine/Clermiston. Whether the two clubs were ever distinct I don't know. Here's a link: https://euafc.com/history/

Here's a link: https://euafc.com/history/ Thanks for your reply TD, I hadn't realised Spartans were formed in the 50's so maybe Sparta took their name from the Spartans. Our pitch was near Clermiston Hill and had changing rooms and a bowling green at the topside.
