I don't know any kids who have caught it. None of my friends kids, none of my own or any of their pals.

I would close Queen street and Central stations and set up roadblocks at Harthill

Its mad through here. Seems every day someone you know tests positive or their family member is positive.

A quick summary; I have 8 close friends in my WhatsApp group. Only me and another friend have not had a positive case in our household. We both have to go to work (we're key workers) and don't have children, everyone else works from home and has kids at school.

My wife also works in a coffee shop and has not had any positive cases related to her shop via track & trace.

Maybe staying in the house isn't such a good thing?

That's some set of stats for your group, for perspective, Glasgow Hearts group had one positive test of someones wife back in March, Son's football team group no +ve tests of over 20 different families, at kids school 5+ tests out of over 200 kids and staff which have caused more cases in those 5 family groups, none passed to other kids or families though.

So some difference, considering I live in South Lanarkshire and it's just as bad as Glasgow area

Every one of them live in the east end of Glasgow - Shettleston / Baillieston and their kids go to Bannerman High. It's crazy.

Higher numbers in Lothian to justify putting us up to tier 4 with Glasgow :whistling:

Is the reason they do the tier announcement on a Tuesday because they know it’s the worst day for figures?

I think I am right in saying that for the 1st time in a long time the 7 day Average for deaths has gone down from Monday to Tuesday - it is only by two deaths over a week and it is still higher than last Tuesday, but It is maybe a start in the right direction..........

There were 832 cases last Tuesday so the 7-day average should have increased today.

I don't know if anyone has done an analysis on the case levels per day of the week, but the last three "biggies" were on a Wednesday, a Saturday and a Friday. It's variable but Tuesday usually isn't too bad.

Dedicated hospitals, is a good idea, something along the lines of the old fever hospitals, only problem is who staff's them?

I can tell you that at the Borders General almost every ward is short staffed right now, one of the reasons is there are a lot of staff off who have been told by the track & trace app that they need to self-isolate, and there is also a high number of staff off sick, including several with covid, there are so many staff are off just now, which puts added pressure on the staff who are left, there are barely enough to tend the patients they have.

Ultimately it is the same old problem, just not enough frontline/ward staff, and the problem is especially acute just now with the track & trace system and sickness, it's a perfect storm, short staffed and more and more patients being admitted to hospital.

I do not think the BGH will be the only hospital in this position right now either.

Whilst i understand the point we don't actually have these fever hospitals anymore either.  The point i am trying to make is that untested geriatrics collected together will create problems wherever they are. You might imagine that the best place to look after them would be specialised geriatric units known as care homes where staff and facilities are up to speed with infection control measures.

Pretending that you can house them, risk free in imaginary facilities with phantom staff is not realistic.

Deaths in Scotland, not cases.

Yeah, sorry about that Brian. Unless I've misread them, a quick look at the stats show that Sep 29th was the last Tuesday on which the deaths decreased from the Tuesday before (1 to 0).

Looks like theres a few going to Tier 4. Dunno if she's named them yet just switched it on.

Edit : East Lothian and Midlothian, Tier two from next Tuesday. How on earth that will work i don't know  as Edinburgh in 3 and West Lothian in 4. Madness.

Look I have a feeling if was living more in Blantyre, or my kids were at secondary school in the East End then numbers would be higher - the Glasgow Hearts group is now based all over the West and indeed the country and beyond in a few cases.

I am intrigued by the numbers for your wives cafe and wonder if establishments just aren't getting contacted or indeed if we should be keeping cafes open so as people can meet somewhere indoors in the winter, even if it restricted to one household, or just two from different houses.

She takes a lot of pride in ensuring the cafe is clean and said she would feel personally responsible if there was a case tracked back. No one gets in her shop until their details are provided. If people refuse to provide their details she refuses to serve them.  I only know of one Caffe Nero closing in town due to Track & Trace relating a case back to them, so there does seem to be some sort of process in place.

From what I'm getting today talking to people in work and messages from mates, it seems to be ramping up here. Tier 4 is inevitable and hopefully has an impact - as much as I doubt it will, I hope I'm very wrong.

Sorry. I feel like I have failed both you and the nation, Coco Dough. Perhaps you could provide transcripts of the last six months' worth of briefings so I can get on message?

Alternatively you could find out for yourself but what would be the point since you have declared your household to be in tier 0. You have no intention of accepting any guidance you may be given.

What Sturgeon would apparently never do has just happened. Glasgow in to tier 4. Edinburgh stays in tier 3.

That weegie bias though.

Yup, East Lothian and Midlothian to move to level 2. The case data certainly supports that.

Not really. You're not supposed to be travelling to different areas.

The council areas that will move to level 4 for a limited period from Friday are: the City of Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Lothian.

Edit: Those are the top 11 councils with the most 7-day cases as of yesterday. A straight cut, ignoring regions. Particularly the Lothians which will have 2 tier 2, 1 tier 3, and 1 tier 4!

Dagger Is Back

Magic. My business numbers down 40% on pre Covid levels and now that WL is shut until 11/12, I lose 70% of the business I've built back up over the last 7 weeks

Surely Edinburgh is at level 3 only. The areas on the other levels are out with Edinburgh

It is but places like Musselburgh are basically part of Edinburgh. I live in Musselburgh and like many other people practically  every time I leave the house I go to Edinburgh.
