Good to see you're keeping track of the daily stats. To be honest, I've been concentrating much more on the Scottish than the UK stats and, more particularly as I use them to help me make choices in my way of life, the stats from my local council. The virus isn't homogenous location-wise. That may seem a bit strange - I monitor the national stats out of concern for the country and our people as a whole (and the possibility that the virus may "break free" again), but when it comes to deciding whether I'm comfortable interacting with other people, I only care about my local council stats. In saying that, low local stats didn't stop my family being fecking infected and contributing to those low stats, so you just never know whether you're going to be unlucky or not. I guess the whole thing is about minimising your risk and just getting on with life as well as you can. We're all experiencing our own balancing acts. Jambo no 1
Another possible promising treatment in this article. https://apple.news/AqnVfccSURQaYReadxGg3lQ Scientists have discovered an antibody that could help treat and ‘neutralise’ coronavirus. Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine claim they have managed to isolate ‘the smallest biological molecule’ that ‘completely and specifically neutralises’ the virus that causes Covid-19. The team created a drug with an antibody component called ‘Ab8’ that is 10 times smaller than a regular antibody. Trials for the drug have shown it to be successful in ‘preventing and treating’ coronavirus in infected mice and hamsters.

Салатные палочки
Decided to take advantage of being childless yesterday and went for lunch. Forgot our masks so picked a couple up in Poundland. Went to the pub and gave our names, listened to the "rules" then went to our table. Around ten mins later, an old man in his eighties (at a guess) came in. They refused him entry for a pint because he didn't have a mask to wear. I felt really bad as he didn't quite get why he was knocked back and watched as he left. Twenty minutes after that and, without a word of a lie, two cocky *******s in their twenties walk in. Neither has a mask on and when challenged on it they both said "av goat asthma, a dont huv tae wear a mask". The young girl at the desk was clearly out her depth so the manager came over. Again they said had asthma and didn't "huv tae wear a mask". They were then shown to a table with a menu each. Really pissed me off no end and I made it known to them when we were leaving that they were out of order. The old wifey next to us said she had never heard of so many young people with asthma. Now whether you're pro or anti-mask, if you want to eat or have a pint these days, you need to have a mask on. I choose not to go out to a pub or restaurant much because of that but when I do, I'll wear one. It really wound me up that someone who has probably knocked his pan in for 60 odd years is refused a pint, probably his only enjoyment of the day, while these young ****ers just blatantly refuse to respect the wishes of the pub so that they can get a ****in burger and chips. That would wind me up too, Salad Fingers. If I were the manager, the first thing I would have asked is "Would you both like to show me your inhalers?", followed inevitably by a "You can both scram", but I guess company policy may not allow that. In reality, those who claim exemption should have to produce a medical certificate confirming their status, but we're not organised enough as a country to do that (and it would piss off the "persunal freedums" chaps a great deal, probably). CJGJ
Trouble ahead and like it or not it is a Jewish problem.....It seems the pandemic and the issues that may result are second to a visit by thousands to another country where they have no permission to visit and where the country is under lockdown There are also issues 'at home' where the more radical Jewish population again feel their rights are being violated by a second lockdown until October which covers another holiday period in the Jewish calendar https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-54167719 Hundreds of Hasidic Jews have been stranded at the border between Ukraine and Belarus as coronavirus restrictions impede an annual pilgrimage. The pilgrims were travelling to the central Ukrainian town of Uman to visit the tomb of Rabbi Nahman, the founder of the Breslov Hasidic movement. Every year thousands make the journey to mark the Jewish New Year, which in 2020 runs from 18 to 20 September. However, Ukraine has closed its borders to limit the spread of coronavirus. As the pilgrims - many of them from Israel - attempted to enter Ukraine this week, they were stopped by border guards. They began their journey despite appeals from both the Ukrainian and Israeli governments asking them not to travel to Uman this year, fearing a spike in coronavirus infections. Ukraine has restricted entry to foreigners from 28 August to 28 September to curb the spread of coronavirus. Meanwhile, Israel has imposed a new national lockdown, with tough restrictions coming into effect on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Despite this, Ukrainian authorities said hundreds more pilgrims were expected to seek entry to the country in the coming days. On Tuesday, estimates varied as to how many were already at Ukraine's borders.
