Not sure about the lack of staff to be fair, maybe in specialist roles but i often see 5 or 6 council workers standing chatting while one guy is working. I used to commute from gorgie to Waterloo place on my bike, and since the gym shut for COVID I've been out 4 or 5 times a week. Edinburgh is horrible to cycle in. The roads are unbelievably dangerous, potholes everywhere, raised ironwork and bad junctions. What really annoys me is the contractors who clearly dont make proper repairs after they've dug up a road. The bulk of the pot holes are caused by bad repair work which gets cut up by buses and HGVs. I’ve said this for years , get the old clerk of works to check the repair if it isn’t good enough get it redone at the companies expense. Only trouble might be brown envelopes being offered.
