Comfort food.

Is that wee Comfort food restaurant still at the top of the Mound?  And the one on Forest Road?

Morgan I’m not sure about these places.

Seldom eat out as the wife does the cooking and it’s cheaper.

😃

Apologies for misreading the thread.

Would it be ignorant to say that all pasta is pretty much the same but made into different shapes and sizes?

Seeing as it’s a bit of a food thread day.

Favourite pasta?  Not the sauce, just the pasta shape.

My top five  are Penne, Rigatoni, Tagliatelle, Bucatini and good old Spaghetti.

Add your favourites sauces too though!

Linguine, or bust.

Mutti is a great brand of pasata as well.

500g of lamb mince, 500g of beef mince, carrots red onions herbs and peppers

Whacko

You'll never got past(a) that dish.

I can't get that stuff down here. Proper council food but it's great now and again. Miss it

I noticed my local post office sells it (English village) and I started craving it but he's been out of stock since lockdown started. Not had it for years, love the stuff but as you say stinks so badly!

Two not-really-pasta-but-still-delicious-with-pasta-sauce things are Gnocchi and Gnudi

You can go with pappardelle for really saucy stuff

That'd be my choice if only able to ever have one type of pasta, that with a slow cooked ragu and the aforementioned pecorino romano is simply heavenly

Check out the Garofolo brand on amazon, i'd say its better than the likes of Barilla and De Cecco

FFS, you’re going back donkeys.  :)

Not as far back as you mate.

I once stayed in your town in the Hotel Richelieu.

I got the drunkest i have ever been and had to suffer an un air-conditioned car journey to Venice the next day.

It also works without sauce, as it soaks up cooking juices as well.

Fry up some thinly sliced chunks of pork with some chopped sage. Add a bit of lemon juice and Worcester sauce for a bit of taste and bang it all together. Cracking healthy meal in about 8 minutes.

Good call on Mutti.

Best packet pasta is Barilla, imo.

Your puns are getting worse, btw.

I got you boss. Now it takes some searching but try get your paws on this pasta.

Seriously, the dogs dangly bits. The only place I've found it is Salvinos on Brecknock Road.

Next level.

Gnocchi don't need much embellishing, just some sage leaves fried in butter until crisp and a wee shaving of parmesan over the top.

Gnocchi is lovely.

Just watch you don't over cook it though.

Der Kaiser

Farfalle (Action Man Bow Tie)

Lightly fry some pancetta cubes and chopped savoy cabbage, add some parmesan. Add to the cooked and drained pasta and mix.

Then add three chopped balls of buffalo mozzarella.

Mix

Boom.

Quick and flipping delicious.

Might just be a trade name in the packet rather than a bonefide pasta like penne or fusilli. Been out of stock. Def not fusilli. Never heard of Bucati one. Is that not a car? ;-). More floury taste and as I say dense. And distinctive corkscrew shape. Name may be a variation of the word spiral.

Got you, Ric.

Bucati corti is a wee twisty one they sell in Italy.  Really springy pasta, great for holding a thickish sauce..

Many thanks for your reply.
