Second post in and that's mine too.

Solid, tough tackling midfielder that can pitch in with 10 goals a season. Haven't seen many of those over the years.

He was box to box as well. What an engine he had in him.

Easy to see if you watch one of his goals against Hibs were he starts the move at the edge of our box then sweeps the ball in at the other end.

To be fair John Millar is well thought of by most Hearts fans IMO.

Cory McNamara

Genero Zeefuik & Juanma Delgado - both were solid and scored good goals. Hearts as a team was the right place for them.

I think I made my point, wouldn’t want to get in more trouble with the mods 😆😂.

The man that brought us Bruno, Rousset, Cameron, Weir,  McCann, Fulton also brought us Berthe, Leclerq,  Simpson, Smith & Jenkinson

If Juanma had just understood the offside rule he wouldn’t have been as annoying as he was. Seriously, how f’n hard is it?

Knew where the goal was mind you

Think i've seen all the names mentioned I was gonna post, McFarlane, Cowie, Millar.

Will throw a random one out there though, I don't think Petric was as bad as some made out. Was fuming when we signed him, but he was decent enough

As a player yes

As a clogger no

I was thinking if him.  Got a raw deal in my opinion.

I liked Lee Makel, too.    And Michal Pospíšil

Yes he brought us quite a lot of players, some great and some awful but the constant thing was he always wanted another 4. He also loved giving players a new contract, I think Flogel had three in about four years for instance. All to do with. I’m sure that’s where CL learnt the process 😱.

I liked pospisil too but I was told he never scored another goal in professional football after leaving us, which makes you wonder

If you’ve ever seen his wife, you wouldn’t be too bothered about scoring on the football pitch.

Lee Makel was a good player. Mind him scoring a few screamers. If i can remember correctly, im sure one was v FC Lantana in the Cup Winners Cup and a peach of a winner v St Johnstone.

Robbie Neilson.  Solid, dependable and did the simple things well

As a manager too. I think Robbie Neilson might well be the most underrated club servant in Hearts' modern history.

But in terms of other underrated players: vote Robert Tomaschek.

Tomaschek looked like a player, cost a fair bit too. What I remember most was some visionary played him wide left for a good few games, some guy called Levein, whatever happened to him 🙈.

Kenny Blacks problem was his right leg. He would swivel 180 degrees to get the ball onto his left peg rather than use the right.

Big Roddie McDonald was underrated. Only brought into the team if we had an injury to Levein or Jardine but always dependable and scored the odd headed goal.

Jamie MacDonald for me.

The laddie was a tremendous shot stopper and an absolute penalty specialist to boot. I don't believe Alexander was a big enough improvement on MacDonald to warrant the change. In fact, considering the loyalty Jamie showed the club during not just Administration but the previous seasons where wages weren't being paid on time, to me makes me think we should have done better by him.

One club players are a rarity, even more so at this level because one or two good performances can push through a move. We could have had that with MacDonald which would have been special.

We have not improved our goalkeeper one bit since moving him on. Outside of Mclaughlin who left at the first opportunity, letting him go just wasn't worth it.

But for the points deduction we would have stayed up, and his goalkeeping heroics were a big part of that. Sure, he had weaknesses, but name me one player in modern times we've had that didn't?

Hands down the best save i've ever saw a Hearts goalkeeper make. No right to save it. Tremendous goalkeeping.

That entire season is littered with quality saves from him.

Ruined by injury but Robert Tomaschek was quality .

Also wish we'd had Tziolis in a different situation than the cathro mess.

Igor Rossi.

Good solid all-round defender. Was our best left back even though it wasn't his position. I don't remember him having any brain farts like our current bunch have every 15 mins

He was first choice until Levein was moved back from midfield about a year after he arrived.

Tziolis reminded me a bit of Jankauskas, absolute quality but knew he was above this level.

Had we had a more competitive team I think Tzolis would have really kicked on for us. Shame really, as players of that ilk entering Scottish football are few and far between.

Roddie MacDonald - no nonsense old school centre half that chipped in with a few goals too. Great servant to the club.

I was coming on this thread to say the same. not one of the eye catching stars but very solid.

Loved it when he came up for a corner.

Bunny Munro

Tomas Kanchelskis was another for me.

Didn't play much but was solid every time, even out of position. I think his lack of appearances coupled with him being Lithuanian made a lot of fans think he was garbage.

Likes a booking though.

Definitely,
he`s on loan at Alloa and his contract with Kilmarnock is up in May .
Would like to see him back at Hmfc

He's 34 now (which in itself seems mental).

There's probably a reason he can't get a game at Killie.

He came on and changed the game in the '98 Falkirk semi. We got a grip of things after his introduction and kicked on.

For me, Neil MacFarlane is the underrated one.

We could do (and have done / are currently doing) a great deal worse.

Pity he never featured a lot with us. Man of the match in the 1-1 draw at Celtic Park.
