Robbie Neilson.  Solid, dependable and did the simple things well

Like what? Couldn’t pass or cross the ball, gave me the fear every time Riordan lines up against him. Every team in the league gave him space because he couldn’t do anything with it, like Berra or Lewis Stevenson.

Kenny Black never had and would often take a pass from a player to ease the pressure on them even though he may not have been in a better position. A tremendous team player who team mates would often talk highly of. I loved him and Whittaker (another player who took a bit of stick) as they would always give their all. Black had a sweet left foot.

Loved him.

I’ll kick off with Prince Buaben.

Got so much stick but we seemed to win more games when he was involved. Quite versatile player as well.

Good player for us.

Did ok defensively wide right, took too long in the ball in the centre. He would tire after 60 minutes, get booked and subbed. Not quite underrated.

Steven  Frail a cracking right back, till he got injured.

Absolutely.

I never really understood why nobody ever took to that Skacel fellow.

I thought he was alright, like.

I though Marian Kello was a superb GK at his best, hard to compare when we’ve had such great GKs but he’s definitely in my top six.

Me too. Spoke to him years afterwards when he was involved in the Scotland set up, top lad.

Bone and Clark?

Underrated?

Get a flaming grip, man.

Always loved left footed players as I am one, apart from Jamie McCallister 😃.

Perhaps at the start, aye.

Not latterly.

Think back.

I will always remember him hanging a top on the net with “Jim Cruickshank” on it a few days after Cruickie died.

Saved a last minute penalty that was just so fitting! ❤️

It was an emotional day, Jim was my first Hearts hero as a kid.

Jim Bett. Class.

Not underrated though as such. Love a midfielder that can see a pass.

George Fleming, John Millar, Neil McFarlane

Definitely the first two but I didn’t rate McFarlane - don’t think I ever saw him pass the ball forward.

Good calls, we'd be so much better with djoum in the team

Duada, Ngoo, and Juanma.

Loads of complaints about his work ethic but undoubtedly one of the best goal scorers at the club in years.

Not so sure about the other 2 but I always thought Dauda had a very hard task being taken to by fans when he had to debut in a derby to replace Osman Sow, especially one we didn’t win.

Bjorn Johnson.

Took a bit of time to get to grips but thought he was a decent player.

Didn't help we would shell balls up to him on his tod at times.

Bonus for telling Cathro to f*#k off.

Didn’t have a pass to his feet the whole game, must’ve wondered what he got himself into.

A lot of good shouts so far... I'll check in Adam Eckersley thought he cracking season on the championship.

John Millar

The first name that sprung to mind. Wasn’t the most gifted player but had an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time. Decent with the head. Think when Jeffries took over that was the end of him at us.

I think there must be two Gavin Reillys as well 😂

Not obvious considering some of the stick he got but I'm giving a shout to Gavin Reilly as well. 14 competitive starts and we only lost 1, scored in 13 of them, and scored 2 or more in 10 of those 14. Never stopped running, made himself available, stretched defences. I liked him and thought he was very underrated.

I suppose that's maybe what makes him underrated. To me anyway. Kind of defeats the point when someone says so-and-so was underrated and then 40 folk pile to in to agree and say how amazing he was.

East Lothian Jambo

Dont think I've seen a player miss time his jump as badly as Mike Galloway when he was playing up front for us

I’ve never seen a player split opinion as much as Djoum. Thought he was a great player for us.

I liked Grainger and Barr too. Wish they had stayed longer but circumstances meant they couldn’t.

Remember it well. Beautifully, poetic moment. Was a half 1 kick off IIRC due to the rugby autumn tests.

Rudi scored a screamer, and I lost my virginity that night. Whether I was thinking of Rudi, is unconfirmed.

Good player for us.

Prince was good in the championship but poor in the top flight for us.

Was singled out unfairly tho.

Frail was brilliant- still think he's the best I've seen at rb. Such and unassuming player, but intelligence and technique that really made him stand out a mile. Real shame he got burst. In say ing that Naysmith at lb was similar

Our own Robbie was mr consistent.

I'll sat Kingston- boy was quality, a level above.

Recently, Djoum was way underrated- a proper midfielder.

I also think Washington.

Weir with us also stood out like a sore thumb.

S Crabbe also was a favourite of mine.
