jamborambo
Go easy on me guys first post & probably the last, but genuinely I read Kickback every day & I Have supported Hearts for many, many years. My idea to end the season on a fairer basis than Is currently proposed, is to decide the outcome of each outstanding game by a straight penalty shoot out, at the stadium where the original matches are scheduled. Obviously no fans would be in attendance. I.e. League Livingston v Hearts. 11 players from each team & the manager drive in separate cars, already in their team kit, to the stadium. They all (respecting social distancing) go onto the pitch and each player including the goalkeeper takes a penalty. The result is final after 11 penalties. So potentially it could be level after 11 penalties have been taken and therefore 1 point is allocated to both teams, or 3 points would be allocated to a winning penalty team. Some players are hopeless at penalties and nerves would certainly play a big part for teams with something still to play for. For the remaining cup games there would have to be a winner, so I would propose the same format, but if it is still a draw after 11 penalties then the respective managers MUST take penalties until one misses. Imagine DS scored the penalty to put Hibs out the cup and the winner in the final. The shoot outs that are still meaningful for relegation, promotion etc would have an appeal to TV companies (especially in England) and could appease their disgruntled viewers to a certain extent. It would give a slightly more human conclusion to this bizarre season, and you feel as though at least the players would have another chance to redeem themselves, rather than a politically motivated ruling foisted on clubs. My one concern would be players gambling on the games they were involved in and deliberately missing a penalty (but I guess that is just part of football these days). Last Laff
Excellent, we can sign 11 out of contact penalty specialists on pre-contracts on a monthly deal tomorrow with the proposal for this to take place in July?
hmfcdaz01
Better idea than the solution the SPFL have come up with . We’d be doomed though as Bobby is horrific at saving them .

4marsbars
I like it. As a way of settling the league positions, it's better than just calling a halt to the season. But clubs will vote according to vested interests, and there is no way that teams who are already well-placed would buy it (I think). I have always thought that they should pause the league (as they have done), then resume it whenever it is safe (which might be September, to be honest). Depending on when things resume, and this season is concluded, they can then determine how many fixtures there should be in the 20-21 season (for example clubs play each other only twice). Obviously, that creates problems with transfer windows and budgets, but the whole thing is so far up in the air just now that we just have to live with all kinds of anomalies. In the meantime, European places can be allocated based on current positions. And we should finish this year's Cup once it is safe to do so (and not behind closed doors). Maybe we scrap next year's League Cup if we need more wriggle room?

Great idea, the kind of outside the box thinking that is sadly lacking in the SFA/SPFL.

If it's 11 all after the pens, the manager, then coaching staff, then folk who sell the pies involved. Shanks
Its so ridiculous I love it. Although I'd suggest doing the shootouts MLS 1990s style. DS running from the halfway line and chipping the keeper to bring home the Scottish cup It is also much fairer than what the league is currently proposing.
