That's too complicated and involves a lot of duplication.  Why not just ask us to declare them W (w**k) or G (good guy)

So, I'd rate everyone as W except English, Barbour (for two v different reasons!) and Cowan who get a G

Tom English is the best of the ones listed, though he would fall more into the sports journalist category. At least he has a reasonable command of the English language unlike some. Which reminds me, Derek Ferguson is missing from the list.

The best Scottish pundit IMO is Pat Nevin, unfortunately he doesn't work in Scotland. He may be Hibs, but should be applauded for switching from their terrorist supporting big cousins.

I think maybe top 5 is pushing the boat out too far.  Lucky if anyone manages 3 for  posative comments about hearts.

Your list shows what’s wrong with our game. 32 parasites earning a living from Scottish football and virtually none of them are actually any good.

Famous 1874

Not doing 5 for each category but here is mine:

Favourites:

McCoist, Barbour, Currie and English

Worst:

Craigan, Rae, Commons, Boyd, Miller and Sutherland (plus more)

Biased:

Sutton (Celtic), Rae (Rangers), Boyd (Rangers), Commons (Celtic)

No impact:

Thompson, McCann, and just about all the BBC

Against Hearts:

Craigan, Sutherland, Stewart (more against Levein rather than the club I feel, and I agree with a lot that he says about us), Preston (don’t hear much from him but seems to chat shit about Hearts when I do), Boyd, Commons and Miller along with almost everyone who works for the Sun or the Daily Record

Positive regarding Hearts:

McCoist, Sutton, English

Old Firm Obsessive:

Rae, Walker, Boyd, Commons, Bonner

Honest opinion:

Tom English

Have to say I have hardly seen any work by the majority of the BBC

With Sky Sports going alone on the TV rights next season they need a serious revamp. Empty Commons, Boyd and Walker. I'd have Stewart, Sutton, McCoist and McCann as pundits/ co--commentators. Replace Crocker with Rory Hamilton as well with Eilidh Barbour presenting.

Far too fiddly so I'll just put W for wank or G for good guy/gal  or something if they don't fit the black and white answers next to them.

Is Jim Spence not back at the BBC? He's not bad.

Took an unpalatable position against Rangers which his employer couldn't endure

Dodds with his accentuated Ayrshire twang is excruciating,  as is that wee wank from Shetland

Whole of BBC Sportsound needs a blowtorch taken to it

A few names I've no doubt missed on some areas but nothing springs to mind why they should be on it.  Mostly from what I've gathered from listening/watching.  Some names I dont know either, cant put a face to the name.

Just to iron it out, Eilidh Barbour is now the presenter of Sky Sports' Scottish football coverage. She came in when Haley McQueen went on maternity leave.

She's still with the BBC for English football and golf too. 👍

Sadly, Scotland is a goldfish bowl which as we all know, is duopolised and centred around 2 football teams. Becuase of that, almost ALL pundits in any form of MSM in this country, are completely blinded by their love and hatred for each of these 2. Their self interest in these particular 2 clubs, means that when any other club has something big going on, these pundits are so ill informed and ignorant, that they have absolutely nothing constructive to say, thus churning out any old shite that the papers will print. Usually these comments are as ignorant and ill informed as they are, which leads to backlash from the fans of these clubs, but the papers get clicks on their websites and the pundits get the publicity they want because they're making bigger waves by talking utter bollocks, than they ever did in their shite football careers.

Rory Hamilton is an excellent commentator but also does BT Rugby.

I'm not sure how much cross BT , Sky freelancers there are.

Crocker is an awful commentator.  Mostly just says the name of the passer, receiver and that's it.

I can never remember a worse set of pundits at the BBC than what they have now. Apart from Tom English they're just not worth listening to. The BT Sport lot on the other hand are on the whole actually not bad.

Yep.  They're like a bunch of guys in the pub.  They've known each other for years, they're good mates, no-one wants to disagree with the others and they have their little cliquie jokes.  They're just having a meeting of mates at licence payers' expense.

The way you describe Crocker's commentary, it sounds endearingly old school and is something entirely alien to Sportsound. Passer? Receiver? It's just random speculation about something then someone shouts 'and it's a goal'.

The biggest contradiction is Chris Sutton, a lot of the time he is intelligent, articulate and perceptive, but on other occasions he goes full-tilt into a lowest common denominator clickbait mode.

BT Sport win in terms of a genuine passion for and overall knowledge of Scottish Football.

Sky's coverage of Scottish Football is stunningly bad, I can only have the channel on for the actual match.

BBC is almost as bad, Tom English is excellent and a natural broadcaster, much of the rest of their team is an ageing, old school tie, uninteresting, unknowledgable, inarticulate gaggle of bores.  Who on earth listened to Pat Bonner and thought my god that man has a voice for radio and such an in-depth knowledge of the Scottish game as well, I'm not convinced he knows the name of a single player outwith the Celtic squad!!
