Manchester City will conduct a disciplinary investigation following reports Kyle Walker broke quarantine rules by hosting a party with two sex workers while the UK remains in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A report in the Sun said Walker and a friend paid £2,200 for Louise McNamara and a 24-year-old Brazilian woman to visit his home last Tuesday.

It was reported the escorts left on Wednesday, the same day the City and England right-back took to social media to urge the public to follow government guidelines on social distancing and protect the NHS by staying indoors.

A City spokesman said: “Manchester City are aware of a story in a tabloid newspaper regarding the private life of Kyle Walker in relation to a breach of the UK lockdown and social distancing rules.

“Footballers are global role models and our staff and players have been working to support the incredible efforts of the NHS and other key workers in fighting the effects of the Covid-19 coronavirus, in any way we can. Kyle’s actions in this matter have directly contravened these efforts. We are disappointed to hear the allegations, note Kyle’s swift statement and apology, and will be conducting an internal disciplinary procedure.”

Walker, who has 48 England caps, has apologised. “I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choices I made last week,” the 29-year-old said. “I understand that my position as a professional footballer brings the responsibility of being a role model. As such, I want to apologise to my family, friends, football club, supporters and the public for letting them down.’

She also exposes the stupidity of some rules. If she moves from one house where she stays with her family to another house in which she stays with her family in a private vehicle, then there is literally zero chance of infecting any of the public from that action alone. She should have thought of this before they introduced this draconian advice.

Until there's an accident and emergency services are involved and God knows how overworked they are already. She did it twice as well. What an idiot.

What are the chances of that? Risk is infintesimally small. Accidents in the home aren't exactly unheard of either. It's all about proportion. However, it is exquisite to see these charlatans skewered on their own advice.

can't agree with that. what happens if she is in an accident and uses valuable police and nhs resources. she was supposed to be the face of responsibility.

But they do happen and you can multiply that by the number of idiots that may decide to try and do the same with the excuse " well she did it - twice!"

Scumm of the highest order

hope he gets boo’d at every match including his own “fans”

and hopefully anyone on here who likes Man City (who goodness knows what reason why) won’t take any interest in them going forward

he should actually be jailed

3 months wages to the NHS as an absolute minimum

Including Boris and his little helpers.

Quite obvious none of them took their own advice either.

Then there is old Charlie Windsor who thought it a good idea to drive up to Scotland with his entourage while showing signs of infection.

Idiots in positions of responsibility hardly setting an example.

If the Calderwood woman is going to be pilloried and removed from her position then the same should happen to the aforementioned people.

Except it's about lack of police resources and other emergency services to cope with anything in the event something goes wrong eg accident.

And of course she deliberately made a choice to go against her own governments strongest possible advice because she thought she was above all that. It wasn't a mistake.

It's not just about the risk of infecting others : it's the risk of becoming infected too.

There's nothing stupid about any of this : just people being barrack room lawyers ,as my grand dad used to say

They clearly knew they were going to have a story to sell afterwards. They would’ve probably done it for free.

How dumb can you get though? How many escorts run straight to the papers after a night with a footballer?

Grealish and Walker should be fined 6 months wages each and donated to the NHS.

All she is guilty of is hypocrisy.  She’s not going out to socialise with anyone, unlike Grealish and Walker who have been arseholes.  If we’re going to live our lives on “what if we have an accident” we might as well have a blanket ban on driving unless essential workers and ban walking as well - it’s much more likely to get spread with people out walking than her driving to her 2nd home.  But ok, let’s burn her at the stake.

She's probably very good at her job it's not a resigning issue imo.

A bit embarrassing right enough.

They will need to find someone else to do the patronising video though.

If we are going to start sacking every public official and government minister we very likely not have anyone left to run both UK and Westminster governments.

Our Prime Minister and senior government officials also ignored their own advice.

Not to mention Prince Charles the worst of the lot imo. Driving hundreds of miles over the border when showing symptoms of the virus. Nothing said about them though but when it happens to someone employed by the Scottish government it's a different story.

It deserves to be highlighted but so did the others imo

It's her own rule FFS. She has publicly stood up day after day telling folks not to do this. She should do the decent thing and resign, failing that she should be fired.

don't see how she can be considered good at her job now - how much credibility do you think she still has? Couldn't disagree with you more about it not being a resignation issue.

Scottish government made a huge song and dance a week or so ago about folks retreating to holiday homes - it just applies to everyone else does it?

Resign?  That’s a bit of an over reaction imo.  If the police decided to take any action she would just get a £60 fine, reduced to £30 if paid within a certain number of days. That’s way less than a speeding ticket - would she be forced to resign for getting a speeding ticket?  Will Grealish or Walker be forced to resign or sacked for their more serious actions?

Think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Maybe she will explain that when / if she apologises.  Personally I thought it was probably the most questionable rule they brought it but not one I’ll have to worry about as I don’t have 2 houses.

If it were a family of neds caught twice would your opinion be the same?

If you are in the public eye and telling everyone what they should be doing and go against you're own advice twice then it makes it difficult for the public to trust your advice.

Unless she is completely irreplaceable then she should be binned.

For most probably  yes but I’m sure not all are.  But the point I was trying to make is there are far more likely, statistically, to be RTA’s involving the millions driving to Asda, Tesco every day than a small minority driving to a second home, which is the only reason I’ve seen given for not doing it.

If they had allowed driving from one property to another there wouldn't have been a problem,so the only issue is her breaching her own guidance IMO. However, I am sure a lot of people are pissed off that she has a second home at all, if they are being honest about this.
