If You Could Only Choose 1 Between Hartley Or Cameron

For wolves did cameron not score a double after they were 3 down at half time to win 4-3.

Both were class players, worked hard and could run with the ball and chip in with goals.

From 97/98 Fulton was my favourite midfielder.

05/06 hartley made the team tick.  Did he not go on to play in a champs league last 16 with celtic.  Not many players have left us and played at that level in europe.

Oh to have a player half as good as either this season in our midfield

One of those horrible questions!

I was 10 in 1998 so probably never fully appreciated Cameron. I remember him well though.

Hartley was just different class as well.

Still not picking!

:P

Love Hartley but for me it has to be Cameron.

Hartley started slowly and never had the wow factor for me until at least a season and a half into his Hearts career but improved and bettered himself each season.

Cameron came in like a juggernaut and never stopped until the day he left the club.

It's close. If I ever pick a Hearts XI, I always pick both. Both legends and great players, both Cup winners, both similar players with similar goals to games records.

Cameron edges it for me though as he was better all round.

Cameron. Both players were excellent moving forward in the middle, both very attack minded but I think Cameron had that bit extra and was better at picking out a pass.

It's amazing we held on to him for so long looking back now tbh, I think I remember some interest from old firm but nothing came of it.

Cameron. He’s my favourite ever Hearts player.

Hartley was awesome but Mickey dragged us on his own a lot.

" Mickey dragged us on his own a lot"

That is quite an insult to the other great players we had at that time.

I can't think of one game where he did it all on his own.

Might as well stick every midfielder we've ever had over the past 4 years straight in the bin.

You need to join them tho.

I’m quite surprised at the amount of people saying Cameron without doubt. Certainly in my mind it was a lot lot closer. 8 wonderful goals against Hibs for Hartley.

Push comes to shove I’d probably just go for mickey but it’s almost impossible to choose. Both were absolutely fantastic players for Hearts and lucky to have seen them both in their prime.

Hartley, although that may be down to the fact that I don't remember a lot of Cameron's career. Will need to refresh the memory during the '98 cup final re-run on Sunday!

Two bonafide legends. I'd choose Cameron but looking back it's impressive we managed to replace someone as good as him within just a couple of seasons with someone almost equally good, and made a huge financial profit to boot. Usually legends who play a similar position are more spread out.

Hartley is the best midfielder I’ve seen play for Hearts. Like others though, I’m too young to remember and appreciate Cameron fully.

The fact my son is named Cameron should answer this particular query.

Love PH also though. He was absolutely class for us.

Cameron's one of the best players I've seen in a Hearts Shirt alongside Gary Naysmith. I saw him in 1999/00, I missed alot of games in 2000/01. But when I returned he was a different player and absolutely brilliant. He'd grown into a guy that was head and shoulders above anyone in the team

Hartley was tremendous but Colin Cameron is the best all round complete midfielder to have played for Hearts in my lifetime, he drove the whole team forwards, tackled, assisted and scored goals, I doubt we will ever see a player play at that level for us in a long time

Cameron was simply the master of the delayed late into the box. He just knew exactly the best time for it. The ultimate box to midfielder.

Could have and probably should have played at a higher level than he did.

John Millar is the correct answer! Only kidding, it's a tough call. Both Cameron and Hartley are legends and would definitely be both in my ultimate Hearts 11. My mate and l regularly have this argument, he Cameron, me Hartley. I would say Cameron was probably better defensively and has the higher number of goals (only just) but Hartley was definitely better at free kicks.

I think you should look at the team.

They played in different teams set up differently.

Cameron really helped Fulton, Savatori as well as the defence and the forwards. The whole team really, why I put him ahead.

Hartley helped Skacel, Fysass, Elliott and others.

Both might not have been as effective swapping them into a different team.
