Stadium names

I'm sure virtually everyone can name all the stadiums in the Scottish Premiership, and the top flight in England?

Most of us could probably have a decent bash at most of the other league clubs in Scotland, and a lot of the English Championship teams.

Many top European teams (Barca, Real, Juve, the Milan teams etc.) would be easy enough too.

Although, many have changed names over the years.  Manchester City (ex Maine Road), Derby County (ex The Baseball Ground) Dumbarton (ex Boghead) are examples.

How about the smaller teams though?

Without the use of Google, how would you fare with teams like Charlton, East Stirling, Forest Green and Greenock Morton?

Name some wee/lesser known teams and their ground names.

The best example of a ‘wee team’.

Christ, I’ve been to Preston’s ground and can’t mind it’s name.

I love trying to remember stuff though, so won’t Google it.

Why Rugby Park for Kilmarnock?

I think they shared an earlier ground with a Kilmarnock RFC who'd already named it. The football club, perhaps the rugby club, too, moved to a new ground and retained the name.

Not 100% about that mind.

East stirling were Firs park I think.

Used to watch them when I was a kid.

Mate was a ball boy and got a McDonald's voucher for his troubles.

Not sure where they play now maybe Stenny's stadium

I've always wondered about that one Marty.

Why The Baseball Ground for Derby's old stadium?

And the name of Alloa's ground is doing my head in.

Firs Park is correct, well done!

Sometimes got confused with Motherwell’s Fir Park.

Wee bit trivia that I put on here a few weeks ago:

Stirling Albion played at Annfield.

Liverpool play at Anfield.

At one time, both clubs were managed by Shankly.

Stirling Albion by Bob Shankly.

Liverpool, by his much more famous brother, Bill.

Christie park for Morecambe’s old ground. Think it was demolished a few years ago. No idea of the new stadium name.

Palmerston was a good ground for Hearts fans, with the local ‘ladies’.

If you get my drift?  :)

Plenty have gone since then

Leeds Road

Ayresome Park

Muirton Park

Douglas Park

Roker Park

Highbury

Only one of those I hadn't been to was Leeds Road.  Another couple Springfield Road , Belle Vue and Eastville, all no more

Care to elaborate for the boys?

Morgan seems to have it sewn up!

QoS thought they were a right hardy bunch.  At half time the supporters used to swap ends.  The idiots were looking for a fight. The lassies were looking for something else!!!

I used to enjoy the half wits getting leathered at the end as they 'chased' the Jambos down towards the Whitesands and then shit themselves when they realised it was an ambush.

That was over 40 years ago.  Happy days though!

I could almost do the 92 as well, years ago.

I saw Hearts at Ayresome Park twice.  On one of these occasions, I spent the night in a wee police cell in Morpeth on the way home.
