Another thread to try and lift the doom and gloom, even just a wee bit.

Without using Google, that makes it too easy, how is your knowledge of football club nicknames?

Arbroath are nicknamed?

Montrose?  What’s theirs?

Who are the Villains?

Who are the Tigers?

What are Clyde known as?

With each answer you give, pose a new question.

Red lichties, hull city  ,Aston villabully wee ,,no sure Montrose?

If anyone can tell me who Die Kartoffelkafer (The Potato Beetles) are without googling, I will be mightily impressed.

Are Dundee United ‘The Terrors’ and/or ‘The Tangerines’ but their fans are known as ‘The Arabs’?

In other words, I don’t think the team is known as the Arabs.

Dundee United team to me known as the terrors. When I was in training in the Navy, a guy who came from Dorset, said his Scottish team are Dundee United as they had the same nickname as his hometown team.

I think the origin of “Arabs” is supposed to be a report of a game on a heavily sanded pitch where they “took to the surface like Arabs”. So logically the term should apply to the team.

Yes, I knew that story, but still don’t think that the team are called that.

Logically though, as you say, it could/should be the teams nickname.

An error on my part, TRM.

It's not the nickname of a club, it's a nickname for their support.
