frankblack Posted March 28, 2020 Share Posted March 28, 2020 As @Tazio says, Libre Office was built off the same code as Open Office, and all the development work went into it thereafter, leaving the Open Office code mothballed. Timeline as below: https://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/libreoffice-timeline/ Apache now have a competing version of the office suite called Apache OpenOffice, not to be confused with the Sun OpenOffice code they both started from. Apache Openoffice and Libre Office are extremely similar but development went off in slightly different directions: https://www.howtogeek.com/187663/openoffice-vs.-libreoffice-whats-the-difference-and-which-should-you-use/ Take your pick which version.
