I've found a link to a previous game from a while ago, be good for new players to see how it works and for those of us who need to re-familiarise ourselves with the rules..

Goons v Cops right?

 

More goons (who can communicate via PM) versus townies (who guddle along in the dark). The goons get to whack a person each game-night.

 

Other roles that come into play are cop (who  is allowed to check the status of one person per game-day), Doc (who can 'save' one person from a goon-whack per game-day). I've also seen assassin who tries to win it for themself - there may be more.

 

Originally on here games were played with no deadline so the goons had to work harder to get enough votes cast for someone who wasn't a goon. Deadlines make it easier for goons, IMO.

 

Can be fun, can be frustrating...go for it

I wouldn't worry, I'm shite at this game anyway. Tbh it doesn't take long to get the hang of. Its a great way to get away from the match day thread after a loss or as in this case during the coronavirus pandemic.

The cop (and hopefully a few others) announce on thread that they will employ BS.

 

This is that for their first investigation, they will check out the person below them on the player list.

 

When the result of the investigation is passed to the masons (whom I forgot to mention, above) they thus know the status of the investigated person AND the identity of the cop. This gives a small but potentially effective voting group who can help to protect the cop if he comes under threat from the goons.

 

Cop investigates townie - goons can deduce who ISN'T the cop assuming BS has been used, thereby narrowing their hit-list.

Cop investigates goon - masons can pile votes on to goon but risk losing cop quickly if they do so. Goons can work out cop's identity but have to be careful in their voting. Makes the cop prime target for a night-whack which also puts goons at risk of revealing themselves if they choose the wrong target

Cop investigates mason - good news for the town if the masons can let the cop know who they are to avoid them being investigated.

Cop investigates doc - also handy for the town

 

A lot of that information depends upon how much of it the game moderator wishes to reveal either on the game-thread or in the PMs to the various roled people.

LOCKDOWN MAFIA SIGN UP

 

Times are hard in JKBville. People are suspicious of their neighbours. Some of them seem to be sneaking about at night. Are they up to no good? Or are some of them doing their best to save the town authorities from falling into the hands of the JKBMafia?

 

Time will tell and now you have your chance to play a part in helping save the town...or taking it under your control.

 

You could end up being a goon or you could end up on the side of the righteous - a cop, the town medic, a cop's chum (mason) or a plain vanilla townie. Each have their role to play and you'll get as much fun (and frustration) out of the game as you're willing to put in.

 

All you need to do is choose a number, add your name next to it by quoting the most recent post on the thread and your fate will be determined by a yet-to-be-decided method.
