Will there be any teams with a full squad left to fulfill fixtures

Just looking at Hamilton's predicament where many of the smaller teams won't have funds to re negotiate players contracts ,so are letting players go before contracts run down ,(we might be the same , I don't know) this could make it impossible for teams to fullfil fixtures anyway ,I would imagine with the wages being spunked out of Ibroke they would be in shit as well,I don't think Scottish football will be the same going forward.....thoughts please

I think that's a factor of how clubs could need time to get ready for resumption of games.

So first stage is we need the go ahead to start again. Then clubs need to build up squads again before 'pre-season'.

Let's just finish off the fixture list in Tennents Sixes style.

Great idea IMO

Perhaps when the SPFL do the same as the main leagues down south it can be agreed that contracts instead of expiring in May/June will automatically be extended until this season is concluded. Now, how teams might be able to py for this is anyones guess.

You realise thats illegal and effectively a form of slavery?

What if a player has signed a pre - contract?

I really don’t think the remaining games will be played. I think the season will be forced to finish early.

Couldn't the start of next season be delayed and we just play more midweek games so as to fulfill the full 20/21 fixture list?

The point the OP is trying to make is that contracts expire come May/June. Many squads will take a hit leaving some with barely any senior players.

If the league resumes in, say, August then there needs to be a blanket agreement that clubs can use their registered players for those games, regardless of where they were in 2019-20.

It’s awkward but a whole lot less awkward than either asking teams to use depleted squads or extending dozens of player contracts.

Me too. This is going to go on for a long time. Clubs are going to struggle to survive, many probably won’t make it.

For a thousand reasons, and this contract one being one of them, I honestly think the idea of finishing the current season is complete fantasy.

Genuinely no idea when football will start again, there is a very grim article on the BBC that suggests there is no exit strategy for a good while to come.

Watch other countries like China, South Korea and then Italy in a month or so. We will be firing deeper into this during April rather than coming out of it, something our publics not getting into their head.

I'm coming around to that conclusion myself. To a large extent it's almost irrelevant in bigger scheme of things

If we are relegated on placings at onset we'll regroup and come back

You should try being a bit more dramatic, will they be chained and fed bread and water too?

People are proposing that players be chained to a club and contract beyond the end of that contract.

How is it slavery if all parties agree to it. Where did I mention it would be arbitrarily forced on the players by clubs. And if the season gets extended then pre-contracts might well be null & void as they would be jumping ship mid season to potentially a rival.

On sporting integrity. By the time we do eventually get round to next season, the teams will all look radically different - We've already lost 1 player and will likely lose more, which is also true of smaller clubs with tighter cashflows.

You cannot pick things up from where they left off. We could sign our way out of relegation whilst Accies (for arguments sake) have an absolute horror show, lose their best and can't afford to replace them.

Ridiculous to try and soldier on. Call things now, no relegation.

I agree.

Finish the leagues now, award prize money based on current positions.  Clubs can then start to sell STs to gain more cash to tide them over.

And its bloody infuriating.on day 8 of lockdown here in rural Spain where the laws are being adhered to extremely well. Only necessary jpurneys to doctors, chemist or food shops. Only one person per car etc etc yet still 4000 more yesterday. Yet in the uk transport still rammed, bars still open (illegaly granted) public places crowded etc.

Folk, this is real, ffs get it into your heads.

For what its worth, being locked in does give a certain feeling of security. Im sure we'll peek soon. The uks peek im afraid is still a way of and could be worse. London in particular will suffer. Just hope they dont get to do the same as Madrid did and bomb burst to the counties. That was the catalyst gere5.

Stay safe guys

Misleading and wrong information from the Gov at the start is the reason people are still ( were ) going out. The young thought it's just the flu and we get it and it will go away. The gov should have closed our borders as soon as it was declared a pandemic with quarantine for those returning from abroad.

The lock down should have started two weeks ago, it's all too late now.

As for the league, options are limited. Void the league leaving all teams in their present position and distribute the prize money equally between all teams.

Ok this is rough on DDutd and the only other thing would be to increase the league when it does resume ,which will be next year at the earliest.

There will be no football this year and you can take that to the bank ( only you can't as you are not allowed out! )
