How do you manage to forget how gold the clubs all time top scorer was or one of the best wingers any one of us will ever see?

Does it just slip your mind?

'John who? Oh aye that wee fellah that scored a few? Nah I cant remember much about him... what was the other boy played beside him? John somebody- cannae mind if he was any good either'.

What’s the need?

We know they were good, watching them again reminds you how good.

A bit harsh, bud.

I'm sure the op was only taking the first step in a wee trip down memory lane.

The swiftness of interplay between the John's and Gary Mac, Crabbo, Sandy C...was a joy to watch.

Grateful I was there from start to finish.

That is either
Jimmy Wardhaugh 375 goals in all games
Willie Bauld 278 in competitive games
Robbo is the top scorer in the league

Ignore it mate, it is easy to forget just how good they were compared to the guys that have followed apart from maybe Rudi.

My kids are young and starting to really get into football and they love the old Hearts videos that I put on you tube for them.

I was priveliged to have been there from the start for Robbo and JC.  Robbo was a one in a generation enigma and my hero and Colquhoun was, for at least one season, close to world class.  They had some great players around them too and I'm again particularly priveliged that I was around to have seen Craig Levein as he was top, top drawer.

Sometimes you see a thread starting and think "this isn't going to end well.for the OP".

This 1 though, hownit went this way I dont know. I seen most the 2 John's hearts career and sometimes o can forget just how good they were together. Or, maybe I should say, I sometimes dont appreciate how special they were.

Now, I'm expecting some arsehole to come along with a witty "aye".

Would love Robbo, Colquhoun, Clark, Crabbe et al to be playing today. What an awesome attacking threat we had. I actually feel privileged to have seen them throughout their career at The Famous. I am one of the fortunate ones to have seen most of JR's goals versus the Vermin. The whole era including the ups and downs was great viewing.

At a time when life is actually really terrifying when you look at what’s going on out there and not knowing what’s going to happen..........

personally threads like this are great. Brought a smile to my face remembering these 2 in particular. So much so I’ve been watching old clips on YouTube.

so thanks to the OP

Not old enough to have seen them live, my first game was in 98 robbo had moved on. Thanks to Youtube i could still appreciate them. Strange and worrying in 22 years since Robbo left we have never really found a replacement.

Veered off the road with post two. Love it.

Who would’ve thought that a thread about these 2 greats that post 2 would appear.

The poster must’ve had a brain fart.

Time for them to apologise for being an arse.

We all know that, lad. You need to remember the majority on here are awright. Unfortunately the welts often get the most attention.

Having never been one to rise, I've recently found myself replying to some idiots. Must go back to ignoring and engaging only on what I want to discuss!!

Anyway, along with Henry, GMac and Levein, the John's were my idols growing up. I was lucky enough my dad worked for Hearts in the 80s so I got to meet my heroes too. Hard to choose my fave - I always said Henry when I was wee I think!!

Loved McPherson, Crabbe and others too but the 5 above were my childhood.

Along with Colin Cameron JC is my favourite Hearts player in my time as a JT. 83-Now.

He was constantly fouled but got on with it. Is still one of the most consistent wingers I've ever seen and weighed in with plenty of goals.

I remember him spewing at Ibrox, physically throwing up after a foul and just carrying on. A pleasure to watch.

Robbo was decent too :robboyas:

Erm, cos it was 30 years ago?!

There will be an entire generation of jambos who have never seen them play. For any of them looking in and wondering what Robbo was like, just imagine Rudi but him being here his entire career! About as close as you’d get.

All roads lead to Gorgie

Loved watching the two of them not to mention big Sandy. JC was one of those wingers who could drop a shoulder and glide passed an opponent making it look easy. I also loved it when he took it on himself to come inside and drive through the middle. You knew how both JC and Robbo had such an understanding and that came from a settled team with more or less the same set up every week. I wish that was the case right now when the teams get changed from game to game for no apparent reason.

No many better memories for me than Robbo, JC and Sandy doing the business.

Good thread, btw.

The second Terrible Trio, in my opinion.  :sadrobbo:
