THIS!

I was in the shop in St Andrews earlier, and picked up 3 packets of Chestnut Mushrooms to throw in the soup maker later.  Immediately, 2 old women in the same aisle scuttled over and hurriedly picked up 2 packets each, and someone else came over and picked up a packet as well.

What the actual **** is going on in people's minds that they see someone pick up a few things and assume they have to have them all too!

I might go back, and start quickly filling a basket with things like Anusol and other random things, to see if I can get people to pick them up too

I bet someone was looking forward to mushrooms in a pitta bread, and you ruined their day.

I hope they were denied at the till and made to leave them behind.

Scumbag is too light a term for them.

I would have been better off with mushrooms, the pork content would have been higher than the sausages I bought

I got a full weeks shop, including bog roll, from Iceland today. Sadly couldn't pick up many of the things I probably usually would pick up but have just had to change a few things. They even had pasta!

Much better than the local Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury's that have been picked apart. I believe the panic buyers are still a bit up themselves.

Next door neighbour told me that a staff member at a Sainsbury's store told him, that a woman with 14x 12 pack of toilet rolls was stopped at the check-out and told to put some back, the woman refused so the check-out assistant called her supervisor who then called the manager when the woman started to lose the head, the manager and a security guard took 12 of the packs out of her trolly, which left her with 2 packs (24 rolls in all), the woman was going mental, manager told her if she didn't calm down he'd call the police and she'd end up getting no toilet paper at all, she left with the 2 packs.

Hearing on the news that Tesco is to introduce a limit of 3 on any one item and I'm sure I heard them say that they were closing all stores at 10pm as well.

They're getting round that 3 item limit easily, and it's not being enforced by the self-service checkouts which most people are using.  Was speaking to the woman in St Andrews Tesco earlier.  They open at 6am, and people have been queuing to get in at opening time, and heading straight for the pasta, toilet rolls, and tinned stuff that is stocked at night after they close.  It's all gone by 7am, and she reckons that a lot of the faces are the same every morning, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest.  Going in every day and buying more of the stuff they already have, leaving none for anyone else.

Would be delighted if they started refusing to serve anyone who tried to mass buy a load of any particular product and banning them from the store.

Ink stamps on the back of their hands, like clubs used to do, and make the ink last for 3 days, that'll sort the barstewards out.

It's no good, they all have 50 bars of soap, and 15 litres of alcohol-based hand sanitiser each, that ink will come right off :(

I was in Tesco earlier at Eskbank. I only wanted a few things. This was about 11am and last night was the first night they closed overnight to re-stock the shelves. It was even emptier than the other day.

One pack of mince left and one tin of beans. No tissues, pasta, bog roll etc. Cereal very depleted, no tins of tomatoes, freezer sections looking bare, only tinned peas left. It's ridiculous.

Utter dicks.

Some of the transport of goods from Europe is difficult just now.

That should improve. Once everyone has moved. Poland roads were in lockdown with 24 hour plus queues.

Just heard from a mate that in Denmark there is no limit on anything you want to buy : caveat

1st item priced as normal , 2nd &  subsequent items are priced stratospherically high to deter hoarding.

And the myth that the public will all overcome this by sticking together, with “the spirit of The Blitz”, has been peddled constantly by the government.

Too many people are only interested in themselves. They’ll be paying for the food they’ve piled into their homes on their credit card, for months, along with the interest.
I’ve been told that sales of freezers have increased substantially, so they can be filled up too.

A situation like this exposes the selfish and the insecure copycats big time.

Needed spaghetti, my daughters favourite food.  Also wanted some veg, one of which was onions. Went to Lidl, it was like a fight had broke out and someone stole everything. Bits of packaging and damaged goods on the shelves. No spaghetti or onions. Did get peppers and mushrooms though.

OK, Morrisons is round the corner. A bit more stuff on the shelves but no spaghetti. I noticed that the crisp aisle was almost empty too.

Next stop Tesco. Plenty of fruit. Loads and loads of empty shelves. No spaghetti.

Local Co-op was next. 3 packets of wholegrain spaghetti. Woohoo. My daughter hasnt tried the wholegrain stuff so I bought one. Left the other two in case some other poor bugger is on a spaghetti hunt.

What puts the fear in me is that 45% of the food in the UK is imported. With many nations being on lock down I think it will only be a matter of time before there are genuine supply issues.

I now wish I had bought the tin of mushrooms that I saw at Lidls......

Wife and I popped into Tesco earlier today about 2.30pm, she wanted to pick some things up for Mother’s Day. While we were there were planning to get a few things we needed but most of the shelves were empty. No bog roll. No soap. Barely any tins. Hardly any fruit/veg. I just said let’s get the stuff we need for your mum and go.

While waiting at the tills there was two woman together and she must’ve had about 8 bags of apples. The check out assistant only allowed her two, but I’m struggling to understand the thought process of these people. We got chatting to the bloke on the till and he said it’s the same people coming a couple of times a day to fill their trolleys. Idiots.

I hope they get a lot stricter with the measures. Banning orders for supermarkets should become the new norm for these sorts.

It's the people leaving fresh/frozen food wherever they please for it to spoil that where pissing me off today. So much unnecessary waste.

I believe there will be much more strict measures coming into force on Friday. Already have people freaking out that they can't buy more than a couple tins of soup ffs.

I just tend to eat the same things most days so the 3 item limit is going to be a bit of a pain.

You could say I stockpile items week in, week out but in reality I'm only buying food for the next 5-7 days. Oh well. Guess I'll have to get creative with what I'm cooking.

I know a few people who are either vegan or just very healthy and they are a bit stuffed with the lack of fresh veg in shops. Obviously they can eat but not what they’re used to and some of them are a bit snooty about tinned food and so on. I have no such qualms.

A little Devil's advocatey here, and certainly not wishing to condone any arseholey, serial hoarding behaviour...but could some of othe purchasers of multiple items simply be folk who wish to avoid going into a crowded shop every day?

In normal circumstances either me or my Mrs would be in our Tesco near enough daily as it's on the road home. Neither of us been in since Monday.

All very odd, but personal. Old boy in Waitrose yesterday had a basket full of plain bounty bars?! Perhaps self isolating and had worked out at one a day for 12 weeks. Odd, but strangely understandable. And he wasn’t stopped or refused

There has to come a time when people either run out of money and or space for them to store all this stuff, hopefully that happens soon and then there might be enough left for everyone else who hasn't panicked.

I honestly thought this time would've happened by now. Friend's father in law was at Morrisons this morning, I think about 7am and there was no chicken on the shelves and barely anything else. Couldn't even get honey which I found a bit weird.
