Ray Gin
Folk need to realise restrictions are only going to be partially lifted because there are currently enough beds available in intensive care units and people are being trusted to carry on isolating as much as possible, albeit to a slightly less harsh degree. Nobody should be expecting to go back to normal life and pack their family onto an airplane to jet off for their holidays any time soon. Shanks said no
53 minutes ago, Samuel Camazzola said: Greece looking to accept British holiday makers from June without need to quarantine. Apparently in discussions to see what can be agreed. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and members of his cabinet are due on Wednesday to unveil his government’s plan for reopening the country’s tourism market and for restarting the economy, after nearly two months in coronavirus lockdown. Restarting tourism, which accounts for 18% of Greece’s gross domestic product, is the cornerstone of the economic recovery plan, and Kathimerini understands that this will include the reopening of the country’s borders to travelers from across the European Union, but also Israel, by July 1 at the latest and possibly by as early as June 15. Major hotel chains operating on a seasonal basis have already adopted new protocols and safety measures to protect staff and guests from the spread of Covid-19 in anticipation of the government’s announcement for their reopening, after it gave year-round hotels and resorts the green light to restart operations on June 1. Hoteliers have told Kathimerini that they expect a relatively good summer season given speculation that seasonal hotels may be allowed to reopen before July 1, but also plans for the resumption of flights within Europe’s passport-free Schengen Zone by the end of next month. Their prospects will become clearer once the government announces what specific support measures it is planning for the sector.

Been thinking this as well, sure you can go aboad on holiday but what sort of enjoyment is it going to be with all the inevitable restrictions which will have to be put in place. Just one example, the hotel pool, there will have to be social distancing in place, so at least 50% less sunbeds, hard enough getting a sunbed at times as it was, so good luck with that one, and the pool, social distancing in the pool as well, and would you really want to be going in the pool and swimming in the same water as dozens of other people. Sure there will probably be plenty of chlorine in the pool to kill the virus, but that's not going to do your skin much good. It's not just how safe it'll be to travel, it's the overall enjoyment of the trip that I think will be severely impacted, certainly this year for sure.
