Pickled Gherkins

See the folk that pick them off a big mac...

These are amazing! I finished the jar in 2 days. They've got a garlic, peppers and a wee chilli pepper in it to give them a wee kick.

Braw.

Gherkins are great.   Never trust anyone who doesn't dig the gherkin.    Same with olives.    Food of the gods but some people hate them.

Olives are fantastic.  We eat them every single day.  One of the best things to have with a wee drink before dinner.

You used to be able to buy jars of cocktail sticks with picked onions, olives, chillies and gherkins on them, they were right good. Not seen them in years though.

Lupe Pintos at Tollcross still sell these jars of Banderillas.  So do Harvey Nicks (at least they did last time we were in) which was in May last year.

You won't be disappointed.

Olives are an acquired taste, but i suppose the same goes for gherkins. Give them another go!

Marinaded in garlic is the best way to go, get some fetta cheese in there inawl.

Hard to say that olives are crap as there are so many different types and tastes.

Fair enough if you've tried them all right enough.

No, I was being serious. I used to say that I hated olives but there have been a few times where I've tasted them and they were delicious.

Because of this I keep trying them and have had some that were bowfing.

I sometimes have gherkins and olives with my brunch at the weekends.    French toast,  bacon,  gherkins,  olives,  sometimes even a dollop of Piccililli.

Indian spiced olives from Tesco the favs at the moment.

2 season's in Corfu. But yes, point accepted.👍🏻

Classier Island. So I'm told...

By season two, you'd have the Olives stuffed with feta and drizzled with ouzo.

Mixed olives marinaded in garlic, herbs, lemon zest and chilli.

Feta (or any other tangy sheep or goat cheese) adds another dimension

:yas:

Serve with the cold drink of your choice and always with freshly baked baguettes.

You can also include a wee dip made from extra virgin olive oil and some aged basalmic vinegar.

And a wee bowl of dukkah (spice mix, usually sesame seeds, hazelnuts, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, chilli flakes, salt and finely shredded fresh mint).

You do it.

It, in my opinion, would be a winner.

I’ll offer Gambas pil pil as a wee starter, however.

Gherkins can nash. Vile little satanic jobbies.

As can mushrooms, and every member of the Brassica family.

And all meats and seafoods.

Utterly rotten, the lot, without exception.

Gies me the dry heave even thinking about them.

There is a special place reserved in the ninth circle of hell for asparagus and any deviant who has been fooled into ingesting that nonsense.
