Robbo had some rant about Greg Aitken on Alba after game for sending off and disallowed goal, not the first time decisions against them from him.

Yep. Good old Brines.  Another corrupt and incompetent official.

Brines sent him off in the 2-2 draw at ER when Webster headed the equaliser, it was a penalty to Hibs. Zal fouled the Hibs player in the box. He was red carded, for denying the Hibs player a goalscoring opportunity. The only problem was the ball was high in the air at the time. The late Glen Gibbins ripped Brines a new one in the Scotsman the following Monday with the headline of his piece being. THE BALL WAS IN THE AIR.

We need to get the best we can get. It's never going to please everyone.  Gary Holt reckons it should be a selection of perm 4 from 6 and reeled off 3 ex Aberdeen players, hardly impartial. I can't decide whether the current system is tainted with dishonesty or genuine incompetence.

3 ex Aberdeen players . One (Miller) who has proved numerous times that he doesn't actually know the rules . The other gave Lewis Stevenson a cap !

Third one is called Strachan

He'll be getting pulled up for it. Which won't help the SFA.

Can you show me where I said the decision was "reasonable"? In your own time. 👍

I've watched this and read all the comments on here.  I've had a good think and tried my best to be dispassionate.

Conclusion.

That is an astoundingly bad decision by the panel and it doesn't reflect well on the referee either.  There should be consequences for this.

I would like to know who the panelists are and how they are appointed.  I would also like every other club to demand a meeting with the authorities to thrash this out.

This decision is a genuine outrage.

If there is demographic within the game that understand the laws of the game least, players must be right up there.

We need to see the full written output but the key factor (from Sportsound) with this one appears to  be that the ref is refusing to back down to say that he has made a mistake and that the independent panel of which only one needs to be a 'laws' specialist has backed him.

What isn't clear yet is whether the referee has or needs to look at different angles retrospectively or just said from what he saw at the game and in real time he is convinced he didn't make an error.

The SFA have committed to transparency and providing output for the full submissions and decisions however I'm struggling to find anything online, not just for this one, but previous ones.  I'm sure however I've seen the odd one before, but that may have been a leak from one of the clubs via the press.

VAR would only work well for the Glasgow arse cheeks. The rest would be screwed over even more so than they are already IMO.

I'm fine. I'm stopping work at 1.30pm then me and my son are heading to Paisley (if the game is on) for some pre match pints.

Scottish Football will always be a joke as long as it's run by small men with small minds.   It's not even close to being a dive.

There was an interesting discussion of this on the Terrace podcast (yesterday's episode, right at the start for anyone who wants to listen). Last season the SFA sent then the process document for how the panels worked.

They were clear the ref is asked to provide a statement of why he gave a decision, but is explicitly not to give a view on whether he made a mistake. I'm sure that it was previously the case that they could only overturn a decision if the ref said he thought he had got it wrong, so possibly Sportsound are just out of date (I find a lot of the chat on sportsound very ill-informed).

The other couple of interesting bits about how they make the decision were that it is a majority decision not unanimous required to overturn, so at least two of the panel thought it was a dive. They did say people at the SFA say privately that they are sometime baffled by the verdicts that come back from the panel. They also mentioned that Michael Stewart has said he was asked by the SFA to sit on panels, so there presumably are ex-players in the pool. Even if the SFA don't want to provide names, some kind of breakdown of the types of people in the pool would surely be possible (eg. 33% ex-players, 33% ex-refs, 33% lawyers total 50 people.).

Another thing I noticed was Malky Mackay was on sportscene at the weekend giving his views on the highlights including the Hamilton red card. He agreed with Steven Thompson that it shouldn't have been red. Surely a senior SFA employee shouldn't be giving that kind of opinion in the media before the appeal process has concluded.

As if James Keatings would be giving a shit if that was a Hearts player on the wrong end of that decision. No sympathy for him whatsoever.

A bitter and twisted post if ever there was one.

I think you'll find this discussion is not about sympathy for James Keatings, although any fair minded person would feel sympathy for him in this situation.

My sympathy lies with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Robbo. Not that little Hibs rat.

Ahh, the old "I'm going to a game, so I'm a better Hearts supporter than you, and therefore my opinion counts more than yours" chestnut.

Thread's over lads, we can't compete with that.

Not at all. I was merely pointing out that despite being called a Rangers fan I'll be in Paisley tonight supporting Hearts while those who were doing the name calling will be nowhere near it. 👍

Oh the irony. 🙄

The more I think about this, the more I think it has to be deliberate and it has to be some form of corruption.  It simply can't be an error or poor judgement.  You couldn't ask for clearer evidence that the referee made an error.

Why would they want to penalise a player and a club in the biscuit cup?

It makes no rational sense and really requires an independent investigation.
