They are a bit better- they were in freefall before January. Rooney has brought them back to a level but he's surrounded mostly by terrible players, and a dreadful keeper. Last game before Rooney played Derby were 17th, 9 points from the Play Offs and 9 points from the relegation places. After the midweek defeat to Bristol City, Derby are 13th, 10 points from the Play Offs and 13 points from the relegation places. So safer from relegation but no better off in promotion race. Oh no, miles off it. I think that they'd have kept going down the table rather than up it if Rooney wasn't there though. He's steadied them but they're still pretty rubbish. They’re slipperier than Man City. They’ll keep dodging that bullet somehow. Bull's-eye
Rooney was superb tbh. Derby clearly not going for promotion this season according to Phillip Cocu. Seemed confident saying it and obviously expects to be given time. Bit of financial doping gone on at Derby though so I hope they crash and burn. Seen Rooney live a few times, brilliant footballer.
