Did we not avoid Hibs for a long number of years until the Fozzy game?

We did, but then we were both regularly knocked out in early rounds.

Thing of the past,  pure chance now,  only one ball apart today.

They gave those last 2 balls a fair rattle around the bottom,  giving us a Sporting opportunity

which means we would be Friday because how in the name of **** would anyone expect ICT fans to get to Edinburgh and back for a Friday night k.o.?

It's tough on ICT if they have to come down to Edinburgh on the Friday but it's happened before to us having to go to Inverness on a Friday.

Hopefully have competitive pricing to attract a big home crowd. No more than £25 for adults.

Be good if we can restrict their allocation to half the roseburn as well.

Very nearly got them in the last round as well.

Least we're at home.

The last game was nail biting I was happy it was over and saying they wouldn't be back this season. How wrong was I.

Very hard game for us. At least its at home.

They will be wanting revenge.

They wanted revenge last time

I happen to agree with Francis A here - it’s a no lose tie for us given the bigger picture

Thats a hell of a schedule for them before the cup game though - we’ll rarely have a better chance of beating them in a cup game IMO (our general firm aside)

Unfortunately a few against us.

Not really. Since 2012 we’ve drawn them in the cups 4 times and have won 2 and lost 2 ties.

And that should put to bed the paranoia of Celtic and Rangers not being drawn together.

Also the ridiculously easy draw we got to the final last season.

I think it’s more than fair to highlight how often they avoid each other. When you then factor in the TV’s involvement and the amount of times dwindles even further. Like you mentioned, we avoided Hibs for years pre Foster. We’ve played hibs in the cup at various stages nearly every second season or so since 2006. If you wanted to be celtic level paranoid, you could argue that that’s because the TV companies want interest in the early rounds and the edinburgh derby fits the bill. Keep the old firm for the show piece finals. Anyway, am away down to Tesco for some more tin foil.

A Rangers fan's perspective on having to play us at Tynecastle:

"Another tough one, but we should hopefully be on a good run by then and get a chance to atone for past disappointing results at Tynecastle. Should be a great atmosphere, hope it's a Saturday night game."

Not like you be so negative. 🤔

We should be happy to be drawn at home to one of the few teams who have failed to win at Tynecastle this season.

The conspiracy theories that the draws are worked don’t really make sense, as it would involve a vast number of people involved with the draw over the years keeping quiet about it, when many would have no reason to. For example what is  drunk Rod Stewart’s motivation for not blabbing?

Hibs getting the lowest seeds BSC & ICT in the 2 rounds is about 125/1

I'm not clever, but I would think that it would be 1 chance in 14.

The possibilities for Hearts are either, a) at home to 1 of 7 teams or, b ) away to 1 of 7 teams. That's a total of 14 possibilities, one of which is at home to Hobos.

I could be wrong.

You're not wrong.

There is a 1/7 chance of us playing Hibs.  There is a 1/14 chance of us playing Hibs at Tynecastle, and a 1/14 chance of us playing at Easter Road.

Didn't need a penalty to beat Rangers.

So we have to go back 9 years for a last-16 draw, and 15 years for anything earlier than that.

Certainly doesn't seem like a random draw, when you factor in the fact that they always seem to get a Clyde, Stenhousemuir or Elgin Primary School type draw right up until the quarter finals.

Yes!! It’s a conspiracy!!

either that, or you’re an embarrassment 🤯

Exactly. Plenty of Jambos have also done the draw over the years, are they also in on this conspiracy? It's a ridiculous claim.

Do we not have to give them around 25% as it's a cup game = the whole roseburn.

Just checked on the London Hearts site and I was amazed to see how few are the occasions we have played them at Tynecastle in my lifetime (born 1963).

1968 Won 1-0 Donald Ford (QF Replay)

1986 Won 3-2 McAdam, Mackay, Robbo (R3)

1995 Won 4-2 Miller, McPherson, Robbo, Thomas. (R4)

And that’s it. 25 years at Tynie, 20 years since we last drew them anywhere. Not lost at Tynie to a team out of Ibrox since 1957! Keep the good work up Hearts!

Never lost to the blue vermin in the big cup at Tynecastle in my lifetime and I'm 61. What a time to be alive.

We got the lowest ranked team in three consecutive rounds in a conspiracy that possibly saved Craig Levein’s job for an extra six months at least. Must have been part of the package when he left the Scotland job. If I’m ever in deep shit at club level, my team gets the easiest SC draw possible!

What were the odds on Auchinshoogle, Plastic Whistle and then The Teuchters in consecutive rounds last season. 15/1, 7/1 and 3/1 gets you £384 for £1.

Not relevant in this situation. We've already beaten them in the last game, so we only have to win once to get two in a row. Think of it this way ... the chances of flipping a coin and getting two heads in a row are 1 in 4.  But if you already flipped one head, the chances of getting a second head on the next flip are even, 50/50.

I can remember us beating them when Magic Johnson scored the hat trick at Ibrox then at Tynecastle he scored twice after it in 1996, then cuffed us in the final 5-1.

Muir's pen for them vs Hamilton was a typical hunnish award. Goldson could dribble it like the late Kobe and Hamilton get no pen.

It was 2014 but I'm sure a good Jambo like yourself already knew that....

Anyway, we're unbeaten in two v them at Tynecastle. Why can't it be three?

We've also won three in a row v Rangers at Tynecastle in the Scottish cup.

But you stick to your guns mate. We needed a pen to beat Falkirk, so that means we can't beat Rangers. You're so negative about everything, I actually can't believe I've even  bothered replying. Might as well bang my head against a brick wall.

I thought it was maybe 10%.

I reckon we will give them the whole of the roseburn anyway as no guarantee we'll sell out at the moment.

No "rules" for SPFL games so Hearts can do want they want. Yeah , I know it's the cup.

My old man also reminisces about the 4-0 hammering we administered to them at Tynie en route to winning the Cup in 1956. Hopefully an omen! I was at the 86 and 95 games..both fantastic results.

The Scottish Cup is run by the SFA and rule

30.1 States (and I quote) ‘Away Club having an entitlement to claim admissions up to 20% of the permitted spectator capacity of the Home Club to accommodate its supporters, there is no restriction on the number of members, season ticket holders and complimentary ticket holders who may be admitted by the Home Club’

So to confirm for the umpteenth time we have to give the whole Roseburn to Rangers for Scottish cup ties.
