The couple coming are tourists.

Exactly, nothing worse on a trip than being surround by fellow tourists! Especially if you want to experience what it's like for real fans.

Yeah we will check them out. This isn't going to just be a one off either we want to come up as much as we can and cheer on the Jambos.

I mean the Manchester branch we will check them out was trying to respond to someone

there are a few Hearts fans who like myself travel up to the game from England, some getting into Edinburgh as early as 10:15 am, most of us get the last train home which leaves Haymarket at 18:56,

I prefer to drink in platform 5 as the pubs on the way to the ground get very busy, plus your right next to the station on return, so timing the train is a doddle.

look forward to hopefully seeing you on the train home, carriage C is usually the buffet car 😉

Yeah I have tried to find the cheapest train unfortunately the trains from Piccadilly to Haymarket have shot up in price so we are getting the 5:40am train to Glasgow then train over. After we are getting the 18:56 back and stopping at Lancaster for a change over, cheapest way this time. The cheaper I can get it the more I can spend on booze and food 😂. So might catch you on there.

Hi I am clearly new to this forum. Just wondering on some suggestions from a few of you.

Me and my girlfriend have Hearts as our Scottish team and we're hopefully coming up from Manchester (if you don't mind English supporters) 😂 for the Motherwell game in March. We were recently in Edinburgh (fantastic city by the way) for the weekend and tried to get tickets for the Rangers game but couldn't. Was just hoping on some suggestions on decent pubs before the game. Cheers

Great to hear and hope you enjoy.

As a fellow English tourist, definitely Diggers.

Some on here have suggested the Grassmarket. The pubs are fine, but definitely not Manchester prices!

You're certainly spoiled with the beer prices down there.

Parts of Manchester town centre ain't cheap either but it isn't as expensive as London yet where you have to get a payday loan just for a round of flat beer

@EngMike, I checked out the Manchester Hearts website but it hasn't been updated in a while. As others have said though, their flag is regularly seen at Tynecastle. The pub I was thinking of is either the White Hart or White Horse on Bury New Road. I know the pub is still there as I passed it taking my daughter back to uni at Salford last September but I don't know if that is still their boozer of choice. Worth an enquiry possibly?

Hi pal. Well the both of us love Hearts colours and the badge is great as well.

Hearts have a great history and fanbase.

We both worked with someone who volunteered at the museum we work at, he lived in Edinburgh in the 80's and he was a Hearts season ticket holder during that time, he is a huge West Brom fan from Birmingham way and he told us about how much he loved going Hearts when he lived there so we wanted to go with Hearts.

Couldnt have picked a better club we are a fiercely loyal fanbase.

If you havent already seen it this will explain just how loyal. https://www.foundationofhearts.org/we-are/

That doesnt stop us being moaning arseholes when we are not winning mind but then name a set of fans that arent.

Enjoy the day.

Around the corner from the station to Dickens then Tynecastle Arms next to ground.

After game follow the crowd back to the Haymarket and you'll see the Platform Bar  just beside the station.

You are right every fanbase has moaners even at City now we still get people moaning even though we are winning. When I was a kid in 90's-2000's we hardly scored let alone won 😂😂😂.
