All very well being able to play a pass, but the main task is to stop shots and he is chronically poor at doing that. Hate to say it but I would actually prefer to see Bobby in there. One five Posted February 2, 2020 Share Posted February 2, 2020 Everyone has got there own opinions and quite rightly so but as far as I'm concerned it's great to have a keeper that can pass a ball out comfortably but a defence have to be confident in there keeper as any defender that's played the game on any level will know, I just can't see our defence having much confidence in Pereira imo . In other words, he's not a keeper who's good with his feet, he's an outfield player who wears gloves. For a lightweight guy, he dives 'heavy', literally like a sack o' tatties, with his dive not reaching further than the length of his outstretched body. Not bad enough to be blamed for the first two goals, but I reckon that both McLaughlin and Gordon (and every other keeper of their quality) would save these shots 7 times out of 10 (probably better) but Periera would be lucky to save them just once. Yes, JP isn't a GK but most actual GK's would have dealt with that effort in a similar manner. Running back towards your line then turning to back peddle and parrying the ball is the done thing, for one you catch it and run the risk of ending in the net along with it so you use common sense.. Yes he is murder and yes needs dropped but come on... Bobby between the sticks on Wednesday with no Berra in front of him no doubt will make his job easier, he ain't the answer either but undoubtedly is the best shot stopper we have.. Is worse than Jp at cross balls and passing to boot. Jp is our best option atm, unfortunately. I really can't recall him making a save of any note in his time here tho, that is troubling. He cost us the cup final and can’t pass the football If Zlamal is back then we have to abandon the high press because any ball in behind will cause chaos. He is hesitant and doesn't commit when he comes out. He rarely holds but when he parries its usually straight back into the danger zone.
