Brexit celebrations

Something seldom mentioned in these discussions is the (in some cases large) tariffs the EU imposes on food imports from outside the EU. One central policy of the EU and it's predecessors has been the protection of European agriculture and farmers from competition from lower cost producers outside Europe, by a combination of these tariffs and subsidies to European farmers which directly and indirectly increase the cost of food to the consumer. (Someone once described the initial Common Market as a form of German reparation to France After WW2 by protecting inefficient French farming).

Sorry wrong thread. Meant to post in the Happy Brexit Day thread. Perhaps a kind moderator could relocate the post?

Nucky Thompson

It's pretty hard buying fireworks outside November.

I tried to get them for my Brexit party but I'll just stick to putting my soundboks speaker in the garden :D

I had Jellied eels, chips, peas and gravy to celebrate.

Even hung a picture of Churchill on my wall and pissed in the doorway of a Polish supermarket.

Having displayed utter seeth at this shitshow for almost 4 years and supported revoking/2nd vote, I am this morning relieved to wake up to the knowledge that 15m Brits are waking up to freedom this morning having not been able to work, socialise, travel, receive health care or school their kids since 1973.

Can’t wait to see these ****ers seethe in 6 months time when they suss out that they never lost their country in the first place and that leaving the EU will cripple their shitty little Weatherspoon and Home Bargains laden towns for decades.

Yes, I’m ****ing upset.  Upset that my vote is proportionate to these brainless twats.

Imagine having a Brexit party

Not a dig at anyone who voted Brexit, just can’t understand why you actively celebrate exiting a political arrangement

Yet by the looks of him, I can’t work out which side he supported in those wars.

Certainly not the side that could spell referendum.

They won’t though.

Part of being an idiot is not being aware you are an idiot. They’ll scratch their heads, wondering why things will go wrong. And then do the same thing again.

Anything that goes wrong in the next twenty years will be blamed on "The EU not giving us a good deal".

Mark my words.

The EU will continue to be the bogeyman of the far right and will take the blame for everything.

jesus wept. “Yooman rights” Someone break it to her that the UK is still a member of the Council of Europe and a signatory to the ECHR (which is implemented into domestic law by the Human Rights Act 1998) and is therefore still subject to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights.

This. Regardless of what side you’re on, imagine trudging to parliament sq on a cold January evening to wave about a UJ, listen to Farage, and pretend that Big Ben Bonged

Tbf the folk they pick out on the news are probably plants or at least picked out deliberately for looking utterly gormless.

Hate to break it to you, mate, but they aren’t plants. There are thousands upon thousands of these turnips.

At one of these gatherings, you’re more or less guaranteed to pick a numbskull !
