*** Official St Johnstone v Heart of Midlothian Match Day Thread ***

A win would see Hearts get off the foot of the table, with Hamilton due to take a beating from Celtic on Sunday. Could potentially climb to 10th if St Mirren don't turn up at Easter Road.

Stendel confirmed that Hickey is still out and Smith a doubt but both Siddick and White have trained.

First time I've been to McDiarmid Park so looking forward to it.

Going or hoping should i say for a few goals and a sound victory to travel home with. Going for 3-0 hearts win

A tough game against a team trying to stop us playing, but Boyce and the confidence from Sunday will give us more composure in front of goals. 1-0, maybe 2-1.

Boyce or Naismith to score.

They were up for it last night against the unwashed, still think we should beat them though. Boyce on the score sheet again.

Watched their game v Celtic last night and they were utter, utter, utter guff in the first half, a bit better second half but Celtic were done by then. Tommy Wright will surely have gone through them all at training this week, so I'm not expecting an easy game.

A tight game, single-goal win will do, but I would love to thrash them and show the slavering TW what Gorgiepress Stendelball is all about.

If St J play as they did in the first half last night - 3:0 Hearts

If they play as they did in the 2nd half - 1:0 Hearts

Fixtures for the weekend, 3 points v St Johnstone, Celtic hammer Accies, could do with Hibs destroying St Mirren for the goal difference,. Kilmarnock v County, any result good but best result maybe a draw to add another team (Killie) to the relegation battle?

A 2-0 win and I think we'll be comfortably safe by the end of the season

Wouldn't say they played particularly well in the second half either was listening on the radio sounded like Celtic were quite happy to just take the three points and took the foot completely off the gas

Pretty sure St Johnstone made two changes at half time one of them being Liam Craig - damage limitation it would seem

Going to be tough, no doubt, but a Hearts win by the odd goal, never the less.

Let's get off the bottom of the league.

I was there on 30th October for Levein's final game which was a miserable night. Berra own goal.  Asking Levein to go. What a different scenario 3 months on.

Sounds like we may be struggling for a left back again.  Stendel said Hickey is out and Garuccio was rushed back too soon (2 full games in 4 days) and was surprisingly uncomplimentary about White in training before the Rangers game. I still hope it will be:

                      Pereira

      Clare Halkett Souttar White

Washington Sibbick Irving Arvidjaj

                          Naismith

                            Boyce

Or Meshino for Washington/Arvidjaj.

No harm to Henderson and Moore but I really want to see what these guys can do.

This is the start of a tough spell, with 5 games inside 2 weeks. Think Irving and Henderson will get a rest.

                 Sibbick       Bozanic

 Washington    Naismith      Avdijaj

Is White not ruled by the conclusion protocols?

Perth is a pain in the arse to pick up points.

I recall one Hogmanay from years ago, my dad took me through and iirc it was bloody freezing. This kindly pub handlord allowed me into the pub and made sure I was sorted for juice and crisps. I will never forget that.

That was at the old muiriton  park.

They will be out to disrupt our style of play from the off.......clogs, wellies and hay bales being chucked about.  We don’t respond by dragging ourselves down to slugging it out with them, play our game and the first goal will burst them, be patient the goal may be late in the first half but, it will come.  After the first goal we go on to spank them 1-3.

3 points against a fellow bottom-6 side is arguably more important then beating the zombies last week.

Having said that, a haul of 4 points from these two games would not be bad at all.

They certainly tightened up at the back. True Celtic went through the motions, but they did look a bit harder to break down. First half they were abysmal!

0-1 Halkett 72nd min header.

Would love this. Really struggled with goals from set pieces recently.

I think this will be really tough. I’d take a score draw right now and focus on winning our home games.

We have struggled in Perth but I think that’s more down to the previous manager’s tactics. CL would have focused on being difficult to breakdown rather than front foot attacking so i think it will be different with DS and predict a win for the JTs

Aye he’s not back for this one. Between white and garuccio. Thought Aidy done well on Sunday, keeps his place I’d think.

Need to keep our feet on the ground here.  Last time we got a good result at home to the Huns, we followed it up with a no score draw against a shite Livingston and then got beat up in Perth by an even worse St Johnstone team.

I think we’ll nick a 1-0, but it’ll be tight.

If they are, there will be plenty in the Saints end. Should buy up all their tickets as well, make it a home game.

Bazzas right boot

Different type of game completely from Sunday.

More confident now of scoring tho, with Naismith and Washington fit and the signing of Boyce so a bit more confident than in the past few months of a win.

Our bench was also strong v Rangers so we can win this and get a very rare win up there.

2-1 us and momentum and confidence to continue to build.

Won't be any new dawn until we turn up at these shitholes and show whose boss.

For the umpteenth time I fully expect us to do just that.

How dumb am I.
