Mask wearing is hardly new. Decent people in other countries wear masks,  when they are ill or when its flu season.

Cool. If only folk had been banging on about it before now we could've been wearing them for years.

Those two things are the same, right enough.

It used to be the cultural norm in Scotland to get rat-a***d down the pub, drive home and watch “The Black & White Minstrel Show” with the missus.

It used to be the cultural norm to lock up (or worse) gay men.  Now we have gay marriage - and most people think that’s fine & fair.

Things change.  “Cultural norms” change.

We need more cultural norms imo.

Agree 100%.

What harm can it really do? Even if it reduces the chance of you and others getting it, even by a tiny amount, then it is worth it.

Yes exactly

glad you agree with me too

there are sadly some ignorant selfish twits out there including on here who don’t wear masks

They've spent billions mate. Unfortunately, for many its just putting off the inevitable.

On another note I was speaking to some Polish bar workers last night who start back on the 20th July. They can't believe the generosity of the UK govt. and people for paying them 80% of their wages for 4 months. They are aware that their jobs will probably go over the next few months, but it has given them the opportunity to plan for the future. They wouldn't have had that in most Nations around the Globe.

I know a few Spanish workers that are furloughed and hanging about here until it ends then heading home. Fair play, they're entitled to do that 😊

Twits everywhere!

As an observation from the various news reports shown yesterday, it would seem that the majority of the mask wearers need to wash their hands more. The amount of touching and fidgeting they are carrying out on their masks means their paws are more germ-riddled than before they started wearing them. 🤮

A lot of dafties wearing them with their nose exposed too! 😂

The whole tick-box exercise is a sham.

To make matters worse. Nero have now decided that they are hospitality and not retail, so customers now dont have to wear a mask, despite face to face sales.

My wife has taken this up with senior management at Nero but shes not expecting much, considering how they've treated staff and managed the situation.

So, you have to wear a mask to buy a shirt from primark, but no mask needed to buy a coffee. Logical.

Braw. Got a Nero up the street so will head in for a nice coffee. Well done Nero

I’m sure there’s a sensible simple answer to this , but why now for the wearing of face masks and not say 5 or 6 weeks ago ?
I get it the nhs had first dibs on face masks and rightly so but that shortage was over a while back ( at least I think it was )

Had my first visit to the shops wearing a mask today other than feeling a bit silly the biggest issue was the glasses fogging up when breathing , wife sarcastically said to just stop breathing then !!!!!!

Less shops open with less footfall 5 or 6 ago.

Cracking bud and your a stronger man than me. I would have been greeting 😂

My old dear got taken into hospital, early in crisis, at that point I ****ed the rules out the window. Priorities. Let the kids hug her etc when out hospital. If it wasn’t for that human interaction and reminder, she so important to people. Doubt she had made it through,

Glad we’re coming out this shit it’s been shite.

We need more hugging our old dears imo.

We've been wearing them in shops since the end of March, it’s almost like second nature now.

Hi mate , other than the specs issue I don’t have an issue wearing it tbh , I’ll just take a huge ****ing breath before I go into a shop and see how far I get 😃

Obviously fewer shops open as you say but the supermarkets , buses, taxis, diy stores and the rest that where open , why wasn’t it compulsory then ?

Could make for an interesting shopping trip or two with a few shouting matches going on 😃

The alleged safe distancing was meant to be adhered to in supermarkets and the like, some complied, some didn't. As I've mentioned before, some folk are not deliberately being non-compliant, they're just a bit scatty...:wacko2:

Some of the use of masks on/off, de- masking, masking up, how it’s done can seem quite daunting, especially for the hard of thinking but, to try and simplify it, a disposable mask can be used again, within reason and should be used as follows (here goes).......

1.  When masking up - Clean your hands first, don’t touch anything else except your mask, put your mask on.

2.  Whilst wearing a mask - touch what you like but don't touch your mask.  If you need to adjust your mask, clean your hands first.

3.  Removing your mask - clean your hands and don’t touch anything else until you remove your mask.  Pop mask into a wee bag, resealable food bag is good.  You now have a disposable mask you can use again (within reason).  It does not belong scrunched up in your pocket, hanging from your arm, hanging off one ear etc.....

Simple No?

Was in the supermarket yesterday and saw no one without a mask.

The security guy said they had masks for anyone who needed one and only one person refused and left.

Only the first day of course but a good start.

In practice I doubt as many as 1 in 20 comply.

Yes I get that.  In the absence of any guidelines on tv about the correct way to use a mask, I thought I’d

post a guide, Its just a simplified (in my view) way to mask up.

I honestly am impressed by the lengths you go to, and am glad people are doing whatever makes them and others feel safe.

I’d still say that doesn’t sound simple, and is rather go without the masks and make them completely optional.

It is really simple.........let me water it down even further if you feel it’s a bit complicated:

Clean your hands, put your mask on.

Clean your hands, take your mask off

That easier for you?

I agree..............

I have no real expertise to challenge anyone in their specialist field, of course we all have an opinion and can rightly express that with freedom of speech, even the experts contradict themselves or challenge each other and that’s what puts doubt in people’s mind.  But, see me, I genuinely believe that the experts who give advice are genuinely trying to plough through this as best they can, of course the goalposts change, people need to see that the goalposts have changed instead of spouting “they don’t know what they are doing” (IMO).

If a lifeguard shouts “shark” I’m going to clear the sea, I’m not going to doubt his actual sighting or try to convince myself the shark is veggie, If you do your likely to be out their swimming alone.  See if the shark is a couple of kids with a rubber fin on their back, so what, the lifeguard did what he though best at that time.

Ill continue to take what’s the best advice from the experts.........

I cannot say anymore on the subject as my eyes are misting up with this mask I’m wearing 😷

Hopefully no 2nd wave.

Just the economic fallout to deal with.

As with the virus it will hit those most vulnerable.

Covid will still have an impact on health indirectly.

Unlikely given the nature of politics but you would hope the negative impact of lockdown on health would have input into any future measures on pandemics.

Although it may all get lost in the brexit .

Has that been proven and if so, what is the source? What standard of mask is needed? What are the smoking? Did they used to be twits?

More likely to have a 2nd wave in the Winter.

I read this morning that a study found covid thrives at 4 degrees.

It was great to be down the park with my sons and grandkids really enjoyed it. Long may it continue.
One sons wife (Dr) was on nights last night in A&E and my wife (senior nurse) was exhausted after a hard week. Both deserving a well earned rest.

Unless youve just run 100 yards faster than Usain Bolt no-ones normal breathing is like that.

Unless you're puffed out from cleaning windows in Hamilton with your tounge.

In days gone by if you put a mask on befor you entered  a shop, you’d be looked at suspiciously, nowadays if you don’t put one on it happens..😂😂😂👍

UK government launches a "war on obesity" as an attempt to lessen the impact of the looming 2nd wave of Covid-19.

UK government is also currently subsidising the fast food industry with 50% off deals and has chosen to open pubs and not gyms.
