Of course it has. Better get the booster ready for everyone. Kerrching!

You see, logic left your brain at some point. When you live in a country where you see a few cases and can understand transmission and its intervals, may you might accept scientific evidence at some point.

Clever manipulation of stats but, how about we compare the percentages of eligible cohorts? ie adults. Unless you want to include family pets too??

Just for the record, England has a higher percentage of fully vaccinated adults.👍

What manipulation? Those are the stats. I haven't tampered with them.

* Public Health Scotland (PHS) has undertaken work to improve their COVID-19 reporting process to ensure they continue to provide the most accurate and timely information. As a result of this, today’s testing figures covering the latest 24 hours will include a small number of tests notified between 12:00am and 5:15am on 27 July that would have been reported in yesterday’s daily figures. This is due to the transition to a new reporting schedule including cases up to 12am on day of reporting; there is no double counting in the cumulative totals reported today.

@redjambo - You may find some stats all over the place today as the total count of cases has been reduced by the removal of more than 1,900 historical duplicates.

The obvious is answer to that is that we are testing significantly more people now than we were last summer and that as a result the cases quoted last summer were extremely under reported.

Last June around 6 people per 1000 were being tested in a 7 day period.

By the end of July 2020 that had risen to around 14 per 1000.

End of July 2021 and that is 30 people per 1000 after reaching an all time high of 45 on the 2nd July 2021.

You test more, you find more. It's pretty simple.

I was there when the Euros and Wimbledon were on and the place was buzzing.

We only had a 3 day break, but at least it still feels like we've had a holiday this year.

Enjoy:thumbsup:

If that increase in testing and positive results was coupled with the same rate of positivity then your argument would be valid.

If, however, the positivity rate doubled along with the increased testing regime, then you have uncovered a growing problem. That is what Scotland experienced in late June and early July. Testing went up but the positivity rate more than doubled from under 5% to over 10%, so we had a worse problem than would have been the case had the positivity rate remained unchanged.

You are still dancing on the head of a pin looking for individual measures "to score political points" against the Scottish government's vaccination programme.  I could show you a number of measures where Scotland is ahead of the rest of the UK, when the reality is that the overall differences between the home nations are insignificant.

You are also fixated on the "adult" measure, when international comparisons routinely use the %age of the whole population.  Vaccinations are increasingly being given to teenagers in other countries. Are you suggesting that they should be ignored in the bigger picture?

You might be interested to know that Scotland has already given vaccinations to 27,027 (24.5%) of its 16/17 year olds, (10,539 of whom have had both doses)

I'm not dancing on the head of any pin.

I suggest you go back and peruse the chain of events that preceded my reply.

In response to Sturgeon being criticised for her Trump-like rant about the vaccine roll out in the 40-49 cohort, a table of vaccination rates among the home stations was posted, to which I responded.

Here in the UK, we talk, on a daily basis  about the percentage of adults being vaccinated, regardless of what is done in other countries.

If you want to remove your head from the sand, you will be able to appreciate that said poster chose to use a figure that shone Scotland in a better light than the gold standard figures would have done, purely for political reasons.

It's not a race or a competition and Scotland,  along with all the other constituent parts, has benefited greatly from the world leading UK vaccine procurement programme.

Enzo has been obsessed with it ever since England took an initial 'lead' and used it to suit his extremely warped anti-Scotland agenda. He's also been fudging the numbers ever since Scotland caught up and surged ahead.

Hope that helps. 👍

Surely to God she will remove all remaining restrictions on August 9th. The plummeting case levels in England speak for themselves.

I wouldn’t put a bet on it . They’ll be some minor wee differences with a tartan twist !

So you didn't say "Just for the record, England has a higher percentage of fully vaccinated adults.👍".   Seems like you wish to portray England "in a better light than the gold standard figures".

BTW, the EU will probably overtake "the world leading UK vaccine procurement programme" next month as the take up rate across the UK stalls.

I did say that; but this is a conversation that you should be having with another poster.

I'm sure that the EU will catch up with the UK eventually.  I hope they, and all nations for that matter, do.

I also hope they can also experience their Freedom Days too.

Incidentally,  everybody used to "catch up" with Sir Mo Farah in their own time.

Enzo has been obsessed with it ever since England took an initial 'lead' and used it to suit his extremely warped anti-Scotland agenda. He's also been fudging the numbers ever since Scotland caught up and surged ahead.

Hope that helps. 👍

"Surged ahead"🤣🤣🤣

When England, with a higher percentage of fully vaccinated adults , finish their programme, Scotland will still be vaccinating the eligible cohorts.👍

No. The inventor said it was not suitable for mass testing.

It is the same test adapted from testing for HIV viral load.  Also the inventor hasn’t been involved in the tech for years.

Delighted with this news! Visiting Scotland for 12 days in September and didn’t fancy self-isolating for 10 of them. Media over here in the US reporting that the rules will not be changing anytime soon, due to the low vaccination uptake in some states and the worry of the Delta variant,

England may complete their programme before Scotland, but only because their take up rate at most age groups is behind that of Scotland.

At the end of its programme Scotland will have double dosed a higher percentage of their "eligible cohorts".

Certainly not in the past the last two years. 😉

No evidence whatsoever that Scotland will have more "double dosed" individuals by the end of their respective programmes. We'll have to disagree.

I just hope we can follow England's lead on removing restrictions tbh.

Just check the latest vaccination take up rates for each age group when PHE issues their next weekly update up to 29 July (the "NHS Region" tab will give you the rates for each age group), then compare it to the take up for each age group in Scotland, as published daily in the PHS Dashboard.

https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-vaccinations/

The double dose "programme" is effectively complete for everyone over 50's, both in England and Scotland, so the data is already there for those age groups.  I'll create a table for your benefit once the PHE data is updated.
