It is just that some people are so good at critical thinking they can only see the bad in any situation that they can possibly turn towards those they disagree with on completely unrelated matters.

For critical thinking think lies.

As soon as Boris opens up England, I'll be crossing that border every weekend no matter what Sturgeon says.

Good luck with border control

There are loads of back roads into Scotland just south of Berwick.

Are they going to police the lot of them 24/7?

Excusing my ignorance , what is giving her the Salmond? Taking her to a Hearts game and inappropriately touching her?

On Wyatt , One of my flatmates at the time was out on the Saturday night and was absolute smashed (common occurrence , once found him swinging round a lampost wearing a a bin bag as a cape with shoe polish on his face throwing food at cars beside the Haudagain roundabout shouting “I am Batman”).

Anyhoo...We stopped at mine on the way to the airport so she could pee and drop off the other flatmate who’d been with her mate. We went in to wake him and introduce him to Wyatt. He was comatose on the floor so we left again. Got back after the drop and the other flatmate and I were sitting watching tv as he stumbled into the living room. He said who was here earlier as hed heard a womans voice. After we told him he wouldn’t speak to either of us for a week. Was a peaceful 7days...

Bringing it back in topic for this thread , i miss getting aeroplanes , being in venues selling alcohol etc etc etc SG are *******s , BJ is a ******* , everyones a *******...

Thats fair enough , I do think sometimes she goes too far and then when it comes back plays the victim. I read a thread on twitter a while back where she had taken a position and gone on a rant attacking trans when what they had actually been pushing was trans and womens rights. Maybe too quick a trigger finger doesn’t do her any good. As I said I just don’t like her in a personal level.

It’s a more serious debate than trans people wanting equal rights but I don’t want to get into that on this topic as I’ll let rip  🪦 it’s one of my bug bears , that and dog shit on the pavement and joggers running by me huffing and puffing

Off topic. I've now noticed that people who were picking it up are now leaving the bag of shit at the side of the pavement.

OK, the lazy council feckers are leaving the street bins overflowing, but it's still no excuse.

I've saw myself carry my bag around for an hour and disposing of it at home

google dicky bags Nucky , we have one for Cleo theres a compartment for keeping bags in the top , pull one out pick up the poo. If theres not a bin around you place the bag in the holder til you find a bin to dispose of it. The container comes with air fresheners so that the smell doesnt emanate out of it nor cling to the fabric.

She’s talking absolute total p@sh and it’s obvious the pressure of the investigation is getting to her.

Is she honestly saying we will have LESS opportunity than last summer for a holiday in the UK despite the vaccine programme.  Total nonsense.

I understand the point about overseas holidays, that’s fair, but for her to say that about UK holidays undermines her credibility even further.  Interestingly when her co presenter spoke she was talking about foreign Holidays not UK ones so they were talking cross purposes.  Shambles.

I agree. Trying to sell us a situation where we have less freedom than last summer, despite far better treatments available and having vaccinated the majority of the population,  just beggars belief.

She is not even interested in discussing an exit strategy,  far less implementing one. It's a ludicrous position for the country to be in.

Politicians from both govts are trying to rectify their bad decision making last year simply to cover their backsides, ahead of the public inquiries.

I noticed this too it seemed doom and gloom regarding summer which is ironic considering most people will be vaccinated . Sorry not “ ironic “ it’s bloody worrying . However I’m in no rush to go abroad yet so can wait for that just get everything back to as normal as possible for the summer time

That’s good for you.  Having been trapped in the house with two children under 6, getting away somewhere (in UK) to give them and us a proper break is exactly what we need.  Keep the boozers shut i would much rather have quality time with the family and can quite easily sacrifice the overwhelming panic to get back to the boozer.

Sounds like you've had all the quality time with your family you need ;)

With you on hols being a priority, though. However, that doesn't help the statty people who are currently driving public policy. Having everyone cooped up in their council area (and indeed, in your own house is as far as you're supposed to go) helps them produce undeniable 'truths' about where and what the virus is. It allows for further unnecessary meddling in our lives. Open things up and the picture becomes a bit more subjective and nuanced once again. We're living in a control freak's dream scenario.

I'd love a foreign holiday this year. Mainly to ensure I'm as far away from @Victorian as possible 😛

I'll pay for your holiday if you take The Institute for Critical Thought with you.  And both stay.  ;)

If you are going to tag team guys try and get your facts right

Nicola Sturgeon has advised Scots not to book holidays abroad at the moment because it risks bringing new variants of Covid-19 into the country.

The First Minister made the comments during this afternoon's daily covid briefing, and also advised the public to be "cautious" about booking holidays even domestically at the moment given the fact she "can't guarantee" that people will be able to go on them.

yep park the car in Coldstream and jog across the bridge.

I've just had a look, there are 25 public roads crossing the 96 mile border between Scotland and England.

It would be impossible to try and implement a hard border.

It is. The positivity rate in that table is the 7-day average.

Trying to downplay her credentials as a meagre "Edinburgh Uni biologist" is truly desperate stuff.

No. But there was people talking shite that they weren't in it for the money. They can make as much as they can, Mal. Just save us the bollox.

63000 vaccinated yesterday. Pretty good.

Caught out for insinuating they were being dishonest on vaccine costing, and refusing to admit you were wrong is standard for you, but at least you avoided racist language today so that is improvement.

Vaccine figures are getting better daily which is good but using it as deflection is poor.

Should I be showing her more respect? She's in favour of curtailing the freedoms of millions on the grounds of " public health". She is also pontificating about economic and political matters that she has no place commenting on. Her political views indicate that she is very comfortable with state enforced public control measures.  We do a scared, brainwashed element of the population just meekly accept that?

As soon as Boris opens up England, I'll be crossing that border every weekend no matter what Sturgeon says.

Good luck with border control

There are loads of back roads into Scotland just south of Berwick.

Are they going to police the lot of them 24/7?

South of Berwick is England, not many roads going into Scotland down there.  Maybe West or North :whistling:

Also, hate to be pedantic, but having grown up round there, there actually aren't that many roads that cross the Border around Berwick.  I can only think of about 6 in total up until around Coldstream (A1, Foulden, Paxton, Chain Bridge, Norham then Coldstream itself).  Then after that there's only another handful of main roads before the border heads down toward the Cheviots and over toward Kielder, and you're almost halfway across the country by the time you get to the A68.

Doesn't mean they're going to Police them, right enough, but it's not as though there are hundreds of roads to cover.

This is far too late.  People can book up to a year in advance for international trips.

Aye, I meant that you could cross the border without having to take the main A1 past Berwick :biggrin2:

There's also a B road between Cornhill and Kelso. I had a drive along it last year

Yeah language is an every evolving thing . Reminds me of that awful day at Dens Park which i recall vividly when someone had their " tranny " with them and someone asked him what the Celtic score was .  He said 2- 0  at that point and someone said.." who cares about their score...its the score here that matters..." !  he was wrong...

Actually when she mentioned this good news she couldn't answer when it had been at such a low level but she can sure as hell remember news when its negative stats.  This is what rips my knitting with her at times.

You might say she's a bit of a multi-faceted academic and intellectual.  A real one.. not one of those self-invented strategic thinker types you see from time to time.
