Left work at 4 on Monday ran to bus stop it was raining jumped into the bus stop few folk sitting down. I was asked by a middle age woman to put a mask on or get out the bus stop because I was to close to her 😂

I’m 6ft she was sitting down her head was lucky it it was in line with my stomach and over a meter apart. I just laughed and continued to put my earphones in. She got on the bus first she was standing at the stairs I went to go up them I stopped and asked her tell everyone on the bus they are too close and without face masks on and you maybe get a seat.

Without a doubt.

I don't have the luxury of perfect/good health, therefore anything which could improve my odds if I caught covid or the flu or pneumonia or whatever else which could have a serious detrimental effect on me because of my health, then I'll take it.

Yep. They 100% have their place.

Totally down to the individual of course. I just hope the divide that was caused during the first roll out isn't repeated ( i dont think it will be).

So Boris thought he was right to thank his staff who were leaving during these parties. I bet folk would have loved to say goodbye to their family members.

An NHS study has found that more than 3000 diabetics died because check-up's were suspended during lockdown.

https://timetotimes.com/covid-lockdown-blamed-for-deaths-of-more-than-3000-diabetics/

I can relate to this, because I've mentioned on this thread that I went 2 years without either a diabetic or a cardiac check-up, and in that time my diabetes was raging out of control, it's under control now, but has that done any long term damage, something we'll not know for a while.

I can see more and more of these type of studies finding that the lockdowns had major unexpected consequences for many people with long-term conditions.

I think one of the lessons that'll have to be learnt for any future pandemic/lockdown, is that check-up's have to continue to be done.

Not “unexpected consequences” at all

collateral damage of lockdowns - the gazillions starving in far flung places not on our telly as well forewarned by unicef etc won’t be unexpected either (tho can see that trying to be pinned on the Ukraine war)

glad yours is back under control and hopefully no fundamental damage 😃👍

Sorry to hear this but glad your diabetes is under control . This should be a wake up call regarding any rush to a lockdown in the future . There’s plenty more healths still to surface too . Dread to think of oral cancer rates due to dentists being closed and or reluctant to offer appointments . Although they seem to be back on track but waiting lists are astronomical

At the dentist tomorrow, not had to wait that long from the check-up to work being done, 5 weeks, that's not too bad considering my practice has went from 3 down to only 2 dentists in the last month and of course it's my usual dentist who has left, so it's somebody I've never had before tomorrow.

Still is at many GP surgeries.

My son hurt his hip a month to 6 weeks ago, could hardly walk and was really sore, phoned his local GP's surgery, oh the doctors only doing phone consultations he was told, anyway 3 days later and no phone call from the doctor, so he called the surgery again, was told the doctors are really really busy and will phone him in the next day or so.  One of my laddies friends told him he'd be quicker paying £40 at a private physio in Galashiels and get his hip examined, scanned, diagnosed & a treatment plan there and then, and that's exactly what he did.

As for the phone call from his doctor, he's still waiting on that.  Fecking useless some of them are, if it's not covid they are not interested.

I managed to get a face to face GP appointment a few weeks ago. But only after going through various hoops to see her.

Some are not keen at all to see people face to face, despite being told that they need to see more people face to face.

Yes your right. They have got used to the other way of working.  I can see some positives about the new procedure but i still think that any GP worth their salt should try as much to see someone face to face as they may spot other issues regarding  the patient.  Plus some . many people like the human face to face interaction too.  In particular older people.

My old man phoned up for an appointment and was told he can expect the doctor to phone him back on the 10th of June, which was in 3 weeks time.

Hopefully the call will come.

I'm not sure if it's the same in the Borders but certainly in East Lothian and I believe in Edinburgh you can skip the GP and self refer to an NHS Physio. I did this a few weeks ago for a knee issue, same day phone consultation with the physio, a face to face assessment within a week and a follow up booked in for mid-June, great service.

Problem is the NHS at large and the local health partnerships do a poor job of advertising/guiding people to these services so people end up funnelling through a GP when it's not really necessary.

Four and a half million missed GP appointments this year already I heard the other day. A massive problem that the governments are too scared to try and rectify. Easier just to call GP's lazy tbf.

I get charged £12 if I miss a dental appointment and have only ever done it once....

They have started rolling that out, my GP has a resident physio now, but it's not reached where my laddie lives, yet.

Assume he isn’t in Edinburgh ? Self referral for physio in Edinburgh has been going for a while. My experience of NHS physio isn’t the best though so wouldn’t recommend it. Depending on the needs you would be better paying for someone who specialises in the type of injury/condition needing treatment.

Yes and yes.

Reporting has been reduced to weekly, but Scotland's daily case numbers are still averaging over 1,000.

The number of people in hospital is also up on the previous week.

Both. It still exists, but people have now moved on and are treating it as it should be, imo.
