It's excellent! There are other factors to be taken into consideration such as positivity rate when the final decision is made, and they may buffer things by putting everyone but the very lowest into Tier 3 for a short while beforehand (I have no idea whatsoever what they plan to do, but I assume caution will be shown) but things are looking very good indeed.

It would still be Level 2 according to WHO criteria.  You need to be below 20 for Level 1.

There are a few different metrics but come the end of May we would be looking at tier 1. Though are we not all going into tier 3 as a country when we’re realised.

@Footballfirst provides a forecast/projection every so often.

I personally not a fan of going back out into tiers.

Yes i recall the other metrics regarding it. Not a fan of tiers either. Mainly due to geographical reasons as we are such a small country really.

Yes I would think that maybe sorry hope that by end of April they would project what tiers places may be in Mid May?

I think May 17th is pencilled in for tier two, 1st of June tier one and the end of June tier 0.

Might see things moved up a bit or changed though if the numbers continue the way they're going. Hopefully anyway!

You ignored me before when I asked how a 10 year clinical trial can be done 6 months

It is a live trial. Again, how can a 10 year clinical trial possibly be complete in 6 months? Yeah, it can't.

Truthfully it doesn't, average is 6 and a half years. To determine long term effects, vulnerable groups reaction, pregnancy, fertility, etc cant be done in 6 months

Because it was funded and manpower resourced to an unprecedented scale.  Agencies collaborating as they've never done.  Stages performed in parallel.  Scientific data submitted to regulators in parallel with ongoing trials.  A whole host of aspects accelerated and streamlined without compromising the core principles of rigorous evaluation of safety and efficacy.

Cheers.

And while we're at it... you haven't offered a questioning approach.  You dumbly stated that the vaccine is untested,  which is abject ignorance.  You would have some degree of legitimacy if you had questioned the the finer details of how the vaccine was tested and approved so quickly.  But you didn't.  You just blankly said it is untested.  You are not owed any respect for such an idiotic view.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I can't be arsed looking back and I can't think of seeing anything anywhere else.  Would taking a course of low dose aspirin around the time of having the vaccine lessen the chance of getting a blood clot? GPs advocate it for patients who may be prone to a stroke, so why not for this?  Am I missing something obvious?

Interesting claim regarding herd immunity, though I thought this would be much further away if achieveable at all:

A bit of a notional concept imo.  I suppose it's a bit like the event horizon of a black hole.  Once crossed,  the virus can't,  in theory,  escape.  The trouble being that a theoretical new variant could essentially become as good as a different virus and the reservoir of immunity becomes redundant.

It depends on the percentage of the population scientists define as achieving herd immunity.  ?  There seems to be differences about this.

You can’t go wrong with an aspirin a day if you have heart issues but you need to take a tablet like omapprzole  to neutralise it so it doesn’t cause stomach bleeding . Not that I’m a doc but I do know that .😂 oh well another survivor of the EICC i should be optimistic but then I think that tends to mean the odds are shrinking. Lol

I don't see how.  Given the months and months when we were told that 1 in 80 etc had Covid at any point, the 60k "cases" every day, the fact this has been on the go for 14months, probably circulating for several months unknown before that, and given that 55 or 60% of adults have been vaccinated, I'm astounded we haven't reached herd immunity several times over.

There has been a bit of a issue within the Muslim community. It’s Ramadan and many are fasting, there was concerns that receiving the vaccination would break the fast.

Muslim leaders/scholars seem to be largely in agreement that getting the jab will not break the fast as it contains no nutrients,

To accommodate this they could offer them the vaccine at night when they are allowed to eat. And doing that might help the uptake by bame people

This was an interesting video . First one of that type I have watched . However surely it means that from all the info from the “ Spars “ pandemic etc it just means that the Govt anticipated everything very well ? So they planned exceptionally well ? Or from another  view they did so cause it was all planned anyway ! All very interesting really and thanks for sharing as it’s always good to question things.

When traffic light system comes in Labour want everybody to quarantine in hotels when they come back from abroad and pay for it - hopefully bobble heid wont jump on that bandwagon up here and damage her "popularity" even more

“ bobble heid “ ? Never heard that before ? No that won’t get mentioned till after May 6th just like she won’t mention any serious threats to stalling lockdown restrictions until after then. I am genuinely worried that when she gets back in power her over “ cautious” approach will run rampant .

Because of all the uncertainty I’ve ruled out going abroad in the summer this year.

It’s not worth the hassle.

Yes was considering Rome in June fir high culture and Benidorm in Sept for low culture ( I usually go to both places ) but I think both off the cards . I can live with that as Long as things opened up here

Anyone planning on flying in May or Early June with Jet2?

Well, you're not anymore, sorry.

It was always an extremely high risk of not happening.

With Europe in the midst of a new wave I'd rule out anything until next Spring/Summer.

I'm going to play it unplanned I think. Book a week off and then a few weeks beforehand just book to wherever is green listed and has flights going. Might be nice to try somewhere new!

Israel will probably be the best bet.

I’ve been to Israel, I enjoyed and the weather was cracking. There are some ‘unique’ things about its but outside the obvious area, its very nice place.

Good suggestion, I've never been but it looks a great place to visit but hadn't really considered it, makes sense to do so now 👍

I'm due to go to Majorca with Jet2 on 5th July (booked last summer when cases were close to zero). While it's still a possibility, I don't fancy paying the extra cost of testing, so I will probably end up cancelling before I have to pay the balance of my holiday at the end of this month.

Yip, we decided late last year that holiday's abroad in 2021 were going to be a no-go for us.

2022 at the earliest for us.

Europe's drugs regulator is reviewing possible links between blood clots and Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine.

The African Union announced on Wednesday that they had ditched plans to buy the AZ/Oxford vaccine because of fears over possible blood clots, they are buying the Johnson & Johnson vaccine instead..................oops.

Seriously though, I wouldn't think this is going to do much for public confidence.
