It doesn’t surprise me at all. A large percentage have terrible hygiene levels imo. How many times do you see a guy walk straight past the sinks and out the door of the toilet. It’s bad enough they’ve been for a pee and not washed their hands, but loads who have just had a dump do it too, leaving you to try and exit the place using the same handle they’ve just used.

I could not really compare, as I don't go into female toilets.

I do find it a bit ironic that plumber A who is under the £50k threshold by taking cash in hand will benefit but Plumber B who put everything  through the books and made £60k will miss out.

something wrong there

Investment to bring down profits means you dont get any payment?

Not really, just the assumption self employed are thieves. You'll find cash on handers(casual workers)don't show up on electoral registers. But carry on demonising folk.

My tax comes off weekly as it happens, so try again.

Oh and PAYE folk like a bit of cash in hand, I've worked with few.

the self employed crash....

everyone self employed SHOULD still have plenty cash around, though it should be for their tax bills. the tax year is just about to end, but only 6 months of tax paid at end january.

Not sure why everyone has gone into melt down after a week- youd have thought the real crunch will come at the end of June when we have all spent our tax money on mortgages and food

My tax is paid weekly, I'm just like PAYE without the perks of holiday and sick pay.

I don't agree people have money lying around either. I'd pay my bill out of the nearest job to deadline day.

Its no where near 80%

16.5% of men smoke v 13% of women (2018)

Lots of interesting facts in there, for example

Scotland has the highest number of smokers in the UK

1 in 4 Manual workers smoke v 1 in 10 Professionals

Alot of self employed will be sole traders scraping a living so their tax bill could amount to a months wage at most. Last month would have been a right off so they may have already dipped into it.

Must have been over a month ago, maybe longer, that I posted that I'd heard an 'expert' saying this very thing on Sky News, he admitted he needed more data but the data he had seen coming out of China said to him that there might be a link.

It was dismissed at the time as being yet another 'expert' wanting his 15 minutes of fame.

Still waiting.

I'll be going full time after this, can't be arse with self-employment anymore. I just did it for deciding when and who o do work for and the flexibility of time off when needed.

I'll be taken one of many offers up post summer, if we're back by then.

So we are truly now a nation of benefit claimants.

It's amazing how many people demonise those on benefits until they need it themselves.

Not quite fair

Big difference between finding yourself temporarily embarrassed by something such as this and spending 20 year on the brew

Losing a job you want to keep VS avoiding any job going

I'm not so sure.

They more folk call him out the more entrenched his supporters seem to get.

That said his approval rating within Republicans has dropped to 87%.

20 years or 20 weeks. No difference to me.

And good luck avoiding work and claiming benefits for 20 years. And for those that manage it, somehow, they are such a small fraction of a minority. And none of them have a quality of life better than even the lowest paid worker.

Are we ? Although entitled I won’t be claiming for my universal credits or self employment grant and I’m sure I’m not alone.

on top of that I’m sure many self employed people will happily get a job elsewhere if possible to keep them going.

More tongue in cheek tbh but anyone taking government money over this will technically be a benefit claimants.

In fact, so is anyone who claims child tax credit etc.

So I guess aye, even before this, we truly are.

And that's not a bad thing. Rather have democratic socialism than unregulated capitalism (see Russia) all day long.

"We're doing a great job"
