These stupid wee ***** pad masks don't do shite-all but make their manufacturers rich.

In the medical profession they are used mainly in surgery to prevent the wearer's breath (either from nose or mouth) from contaminating an open wound.

They do nothing to prevent the wearer from inhaling anything in the air, whether that be the common cold or traffic fumes.

If you do want to eliminate your rick of contracting something in the air then you need a fully sealed mask with active charcoal filters or some similar technology.

In this country, if anyone is really concerned, P3 valved filter mask would be needed.

Aye, that will sort you out. Pair of goggles as well. That will be the shit the folk in the hazmats will be wearing. Used to have to wear one if I had to remove asbestos.

6,000 passengers are being held on a huge cruise ship in the Italian port of Civitavecchia, North of Rome, after a woman from Macau fell ill with flu-like symptoms.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7947003/6-000-trapped-cruise-ship-Italy-two-people-board-tested-coronavirus.html

What must be a concern and just shows how easy it would be to spread any virus (if she does have the Coronavirus) is that before the woman fell ill, she had been in Hong Kong, Milan, Savona, Marseille, Barcelona & Palma in Majorca in the 4 or 5 days before falling ill.

Just mentioned that on the news just now, which is good news, however if she had the virus, if could easily have been spread not only on the confines of the ship but everywhere she's been.

Just had this email at work in Newcastle, not going to Chinatown tonight

Dear Colleagues

You will have seen from media sources that two people have been identified with the coronavirus today and have been brought to Newcastle hospitals for treatment.  The hospital is one of four specialist hospitals in the country and this is routine procedure. We have been advised that the risk to individuals in the UK has not changed at this stage and would recommend following Public Health England updates
