Hyphenated Names

The first player I can recall that had a hyphenated name was Ian Storey-Moore who played for Forest and Man Utd in the 70s.   IIRC he was forced to use only Storey when he played for England.

These days almost every EPL club has a player with a hyphenated name from Alexander-Arnold to Ward-Prowse.   Is Oxlade-Chamberlain the longest?

Didn't Gary Taylor-Fletcher only become that after taking his wife's name?  Sure he was just Gary Fletcher before.

This is correct.

Not hyphenated but surely the longest name in football ever. Wonder how much it cost to get his name put on your shirt in the club shop ;)

The whole thing of hyphenating your surname with your spouses is a bit odd, when you start having kids.

If Mr and Mrs Taylor-Fletcher have a kid called Jamie who marries Alison Oxlade-Chamberlain, then does he become Jamie Taylor-Fletcher-Oxlade-Chamberlain?

He Who Cannot Be Named

Most of them will be double barrelled names, the difference being they take both parents surnames, as apposed to taking your partners surname.

I am told it reflects the changes in society. Less people married, more living together, so partners don't take the others' name, hence the kids take both..

Po faced post of the year.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is longer by one letter.

Off topic though, as Floyd is his middle name.

Vennegoor of Hesselink is just his surname LOL

His full name is Johannes Vennegoor of Hesselink - no middle name though :)

Mr Brightside

Juanjo, full name was something like Juan Jose Perez Carraconda. With the Perez Carraconda part being the surnames of his parents. Juanma was the same and so was Isma Goncalves.

Spanish naming customs- Carricondo was his dads surname, Perez was his mum's and Juanjo is just like Billy is to William. He's officially Juan Jose Carricondo Perez, but in real life he's Juanjo Carricondo.

Double barrel names can GTF. Pick a name FFS.

This. Future generations are going to have 32 surnames, but no-one seems to have thought this far ahead yet.

The kid doing lettering in the shop would have been praying that they signed Demba Ba.
