I bumped into a young Tory voting Borders farmery type couple at a bar in the Edinburgh Festival last year, had a good blether, both 2014 Nawbags voters, both probably voting Yes next time.

Murray Foote is too.

Do you have anything to offer on the means, production and control of the orange juice market then I'm seriously all ears.

Stomping your feet and shouting to the rooftops that democracy stopped in Scotland in 2014 just really doesn't cut it on a message board. Or anywhere else for that matter.

You didn't have to say 'Nawbags', you deliberately chose to say, capital N, Nawbags.

I don't expect kindness or respect from Scottish Nationalists. It is how most Scottish Nationalists feel and behave, Imo.

Then maybe you ought to live by your own example, instead of being sanctimonious and abusive.

Or stop hypocritically crying. Your choice really.

Don't any more referendums happening this year. Doubtful of it happening next year either. Maybe 2022 or 23

It's not going to be until at least after the next Scottish General election in 2021.

Then the damage of Brexit will have begun to show and, as usual, there will be a majority of Independence supporting parties returned to Hollyrood.

Whether that's still just the SNP and Greens by that time is a matter for debate.

There won't be any damage from Brexit. We'll be more prosperous than ever.

There won't be an Indy Ref for a minimum of the lifetime of this parliament, which is certain to be the full 5 years, as Boris and all senior Tory MPs have confirmed many times.  It was categorically stated in their manifesto and election campaign.

There is zero chance or incentive in them granting a Section 30 order.

These people have their own definition of everything in life from democracy to morality and they want to write all the rules.  They tell us who is right, who is wrong, what is right, what is wrong and who is Scottish and who isn't.

The rest of us, well we go about our day, keeping ourselves to ourselves and think and vote in quiet.  The left are being defeated in pretty much everything they do nowadays and it is 100% their own fault.  Their bullying tactics and dreams of annihilating all those who differ is simply not working.  Long may it continue.

Trump will win a landslide this year and this nonsense will not get as far as front stage.  They will moan, argue, bully, protest, scream, shout, vandalise, defame, accuse and antagonise but it will not happen.

Until they take a step back and have a look to see how wrong they are going about it all nothing will change.  I am a No voting, Brexit supporting, Trump admiring Tory and I know they will think it, they are NOT nicer than me for seeing the world the way they do.  I am as Scottish as any Yes voter, I know they hate this and feel differently but it does not change this fact.

Rule Britannia!

And then came another once in a life time/generation  referendum (except that it wasn't) that blew the unionist case for the union out of the water. In fact it was the polar opposite of what the indy ref was - ie better together became , under Brexit, better off alone . So after brexit the unionists said , make a case for the union at the GE . But people decided not to.

As an anglo who's a bit out of touch some times,  can you clarify/confirm ?

Nothing in The Smith Commission Report about "once in a generation," in fact it says quite the opposite.

Chapter 18.

Nothing in the Edinburgh Agreement either.

So where is this legal framework that says "once in a generation?"

Dirty Deeds

Despite the political upheaval of recent years, the opinion polls haven't changed significantly since the 2014 referendum.

I'd like to see the SNP push for more devolved powersI think there's a real mandate for that.

I worry that another lost referendum now would be fatal to the independence cause.

They aren't but some are clearly delusional and won't accept the reality of the situation.  They have been told numerous times by a Westminster government who can comfortably exercise their large majority and ignore them for the next five years.

There won't be a "Scottish independence referendum 2020". There will, however, be a so-called Scottish "Government" wasting Scotland's time and money bleating and not providing good public services.

The SNP have no interest in Scotland.

OK mate lets just put that shite to bed eh?

Live in the real world.

“The only way to stay a member of the EU is to. Vote No”

Lie.

Because at the time, the No supporting politicians would have told you anything that would convince voters to do their bidding.

Politicians lie.

Its not a surprise however; I believe that when Alex said that it was a once in a generation opportunity (& it was repeated by many of the Yes supporting politicians including the current FM), he meant what he was saying.

The vote was No and it was respected by the Yes side right up to the point when smug puss Cameron stood on the steps of Number 10 the very next morning and announced EVEL and the opportunity for an in/out EU referendum to the world. Scotland was told to “get back in its box”.

”Lead us dont leave us”.

”a Nation of equals”.

”equal partner in the union”.

”pooling & sharing”.

”Stay in the EU”

”The Vow”.

All feckin lies!!!

Scotland voted to stay in the EU but guess what???

Scotland rejected the tories at the GE but guess what???

They lied to Scotland and so the once in a generation thing is null and void and can feck right off!!!

So Boris is trustworthy now? Never lies or goes back on things he says 🙄

If I was a unionist I'd relish a new referendum given the confidence they have that it would be a No vote, and I'd be insisting on a clause that specifies exactly how long has to pass before any potential new one. I'd want to use this as an opportunity to destroy the nationalist cause.

For some reason though, instead, unionists just seem angry at Krankie and a little dare I say, worried.

No, we are just tired of the monotonous non-stop drone about independence from the SNP 24 x 7.

They seem to think they can bore the tories into giving them a Section 30 when the matter is now settled until after this parliament.

Can someone explain WTF the Nats were doing in Holyrood over the Brexit Withdrawal bill, and why they aren't getting on with devolved issues?
