A team with more pace and energy?

If we are going to try to continue playing a high press, we need to have a lot more energy and pace in the team, for Wednesday, which we'll lose heavily if we play the same team as today, it might be worth trying the following:

Perreira - high press needs a sweeper keeper and his main strength is his kicking

Smith

Halkett

Berra

Hickey

Damour - is athletic and must have something given his time at Cardiff

Irving - can at least run which puts him ahead of Bozanic and Whelan

Morrison - Pace

Clare - one of the few we've got that can carry the ball

Mulraney - pace

Walker - his main strength is holding the ball in and shielding it, would seem a better fit up top than any of our other available forwards.

Would also consider finding role's for Brandon and Henderson who both have legs and energy.

For me

          Pereira

Smith Berra Halkett Hicke

         Whelan

Mulraney Walker Meshino

Uche Wighton Keena

Free game, have a go. Press and chase that lot like you're life depended on it

Wonder if Mulraney might be effective through the middle. If he got in behind the Celtic back line on the break it might work.

I think Walker's ideal position is attacking midfielder is the centre. Never afraid to shoot

He looked very poor today imo, first touch was a tackle most of the time.

Keena's not going to make it at Hearts. Championship beckons for this lad.

The answer to this is within the squad...with a tweak or two

Naismith, Haring, Washington and Souttar would make a massive difference to our team

However when will they be back ?...the long term nature of their injuries is killing us

So we need to inject more into the side at present...Henderson should be given a run up front, Mulraney with all his faults gives us pace

There needs to be a couple of signings with pace in January

It will be clear to Stendel after today that he does not have the tools to play his style of football he wants.

Ann Budge wanted what Stendel was offering in terms of footballing style and she will now need to pony up for the players he needs.

I expect to see a bit of a cull in January. If it doesn’t happen then what was the point of employing Stendel.

Pace isnt the be all ....quality beats pace 100 times over. To play the style the manager wants we need both but most important is quality. Anyone can press, but when you get it back thats when quality shine......we need a mix of youth and experience, the young players drive the older ones on and when it gets tough thats when the young ones need help. We have too many passengers and the old management team have held back our young players. Our team should have had Harry\Anthony at its core with experience to help them....hopefully the new manager will bring them back and the 2nd half of the season will be exciting...we wont win every game  but performances will be so much better.

You can’t say we need quality and then say we need a mixture of youth and experience. If we need quality, we need quality, regardless of age.

The quality is in the youth. Look at the squad now...Harry Cochrane and Anthony McDonald have more quality than whats there but they need some experience around them. Quality isnt age specific but decision making comes with experience....Put Harry heside Whelan snd you get experience but you slso get the quality\youth which gives you energy. Put Anthony beside Naismith\Washington and you get the experience and the arrogance of youth. Best teams mix it up, you cannot excpect young players, irrespective of how good they are, to always get it right, thats where experience comes in, so you can have youth with quality snd experience around them.

It’s yet to be seen whether Cochrane and MacDonald are “quality”. Levein didn’t think they had it, yet.

Levein signed the players that has kept these boys out and we are bottom of the league.

Are you seriously saying they dont have more quality than what is there just now...

I’d do my upmost on getting rid of Clare, Berra (sorry), Bozanic, Dikamoura, Mclean, Damour, Whelen, Mulraney. Both keepers, Garruchio and anyone else I’ve missed.

I think if MacPhee analyses the players man bras after yesterday he'll find that Bozanic did the most running.

Endless pointless runs to ask for the ball and play a pointless negative backwards or sideways pass.  No passes to hurt the opposition.  Same with Maclean - lots of 'touches' but almost all with him heading back towards the centre circle and the ball dumped off negatively.

They are both awful players but the culture of negative football Levein and MacPhee have instilled is incredible.

I watched Stendel and could see he couldn't believe how little courage our players have on the ball.
