Berra

Has taken some stick the past few weeks, but he was pretty good today.  Marked Stevie May out of the game, the boy didn't win a single header the whole time he was on before getting subbed.  He also kept the ball on the ground a lot more than the usual "pass sideways, pass back to Berra, hoof!" tactics that we've seen all season.

A much, much better performance from him.

I said in another post that I thought he stepped up on the new managers debut while others didn’t. Not saying he was fantastic but it says something to me when he at least showed the courage we know he has.

It just highlighted how worrying the situ is when a much criticised Berra at least showed the guts for the battle.

Pretty poor again today although I did notice he chested the ball down at one point.

All about opinions my friend, but I have to disagree.

St Johnstone played on his weakness by launching balls over his head and on one such occasion it led to the corner they scored from.  Too many wayward headed clearances into the stand when under no pressure as well.  Must be one of the most predictable defenders to play against, no high tech iPad analysis required there.

Doesn’t captain the team.  After the Halkett/Zlamal clown show in the first half, he should have been screaming at them to get a reaction.  He didn’t, which to the support and opposition can be interpreted as an acceptance of low standards and failure.  Irony was, Hickey, the guy who saved the day, got a bollocking from Berra in the 2nd half for not getting on the end of a through ball that would have required young Aaron to eclipse Usain Bolt’s world record to get within a sniff off.

The defending for the Zlamal save was embarrassing and the resulting corner which gave the goal was even more schoolboy. Berra was the best defender in the league before his injury, unfortunately this has ended his career imo unless a extended break will help him. Shame cause he was outstanding when he first came back

He's done, we need quicker and better.

This in spades. If our new manager had any balls he will quickly identify this as an area to improve. Berra was immense in his day but that day is long gone and his continued presence in the team is hurting us badly.

Captain Canada

We need to pick players on form and unfortunately, Berra has been a huge disappointment as a captain and player since he returned from injury.

He was at fault for the goal today and it's happening too often. Elvis was 10x the captain Berra is right now.

He was marking Hendry when he scored St J's goal today. And it doesn't take much to mark Stevie May.

Stevie May didnt try to win headers with berra,he allowed berra to win them and they mostly ended up on davidsons head!!!

Berra was dogshite as usual.

Did Stendel not say we were now zonal marking might be part of the problem for the goal. You see better players than Berra confused when switching to zonal marking at corners.

No he wasn’t. It was zonal defending at set pieces so no one was marking anyone. Get used to it, for a few games at least.

Irrespective of the zonal marking, at the time of the goal Berra was challenging Hendry for the ball. He was marking him at the time.

I didn’t see anyone challenging Hendry at the goal.

Diadora Van Basten

At a time we should be simplifying the game and using Berra as an old workhouse centre half we are playing a high line and pushing the full backs on exposing Berra’s lack of pace.

May has been pish for about 5 years

Its like saying he did well because he marked Conor Sammon out of the game.
