Charity donations by JKB this year.

Recommended Posts

Over the years, JKB members have generously donated to dozens of Scottish charities.  The total amount of JKB money donated to outside charities is in excess of £80,000

Just a few of the charities who have benefited from JKB's donations are SAMH, Alzheimers Scotland, The Brain Tumour Charity, Marie Curie, SiMBA, Spina Bifida Scotland, Rock Trust Homeless Mission, St Columba's Hospice, CCLASP, and the Scottish SPCA.

We are in a position to make a few more donations again.  As in the past, we are hoping to donate to charities that are near and dear to our members.  If you are a Paid Member, and have a favourite charity, post the charity name on here and we'll see what we can do.  Please provide a link to the charity so that we can ensure the money goes to the right cause.

We might not be able to help everyone, but we'll do the best we can.

Once again, thank you to all our Paid Members for their generosity.

Hi, can I be first up and suggerst/request a donation to the Gorgie Dalry Stenhouse Church /Bethany Diadem project. For folk that haven't heard of them, they provide a hot evening meal, a bed and access to various support services for up to 75 homeless people every night.

They're currently looking to refurbish their kitchen so any donation would be very welcome.

Thanks

SAMH, they are involved in the changing room project at Tynecastle, which makes a massive difference to fellow Hearts supporters dealing with mental health issues.

I think we're both suggesting the same project, I'm not sure of who is responsible for what but it seems that (at what is probably a far too simplistic level)  the churches provide the building and facilities and Bethany provide the  staff/support.  The Diadem project meas that there is one base with better facilities rather than different halls providing accommodation on different nights.

Citizens Advice Edinburgh.

Each CAB is an individual charity and the majority of people think they are funded by the government.   They aren't.

Citizens Advice Edinburgh has a bureau in Gorgie and are open to anyone looking for free advice on practically anything.

Without donations, they wouldn't be able to provide this completely free service.

I'm a director (unpaid, obviously!) of a new charity called Nature's Nook (it's only really started this year, so no website....yet!). This is a link to our OSCR page though.

 The charity’s objectives are:

  1. To provide opportunities to an accessible woodland learning and recreational facilities and support/organise recreational activities within the operating area, with such facilities/activities being made available to education establishments and members of the public at large with the object of providing ability to participate in outdoor learning and recreational activities in the interests of social welfare and improving the condition of lives for the persons for whom the facilities are primarily intended.

  2. To support that advancement the education of children, young people and adults by providing opportunities to engage in the study, practice and teaching of nature and the outdoor environment and community learning which develops their spiritual, mental and physical capacities and enable them to improve their conditions of life.

Any support (or questions!) welcome, feel free to give me a shout if more info is needed.

That's us for 2019, and a good year it was too.  Once again, thank you to everyone, especially our Paid Members, for your support of JKB.  (We know that the ads are a pain in the arse)

Without your patience and generosity, none of the following would have been possible. :bravo:

To the Foundation of Hearts, £4,800

To Big Hearts, £8,700

To 14 various charities in Scotland, £3,000

To HMFC for match, event and kit sponsorships, and STs, £15,000

Total for the year, approximately £31,400

WELL DONE, EVERYONE.  Have a great Christmas and a wonderful 2020.
