The BBC Sportsound pundits.

Whatever

Recommended Posts

Had the misfortune to hear this shite today.

From Allan Preston stating there ‘is nothing good at the club right now’....

...to Willie Miller suggesting it’s ‘laughable’ and we should ‘get real’. All because Austin Macphee dared to suggest the infrastructure now in place at the club should mean we want to be regularly competing for a place in the Europa league...

...to Michael Stewart being, well, Michael ****in Stewart...

...to that smug wankpiece Richard Gordon doing his usual scoffing and sneering throughout. Of course he was in full agreement whenever any of the above said anything negative about AM or Hearts (which was plentiful).

Could barely bring themselves to say anything positive about AM or Hearts. Even after the post match interview it was all about how AM was apparently saying what ‘the fans wanted to hear’ and how he ‘made sure to talk up his record’ (So would I if my record was 4 wins from 5!!)

This after Brian McLaughlin’s pathetic and ill informed slaverings the night Levein was sacked.

It’s very apparent there’s an agenda at play here. For whatever reason they clearly don’t like AM. Do I think AM should get the job? Probably not. That won’t stop me from giving credit where it’s due for today.

Austin Macphee has already given more to this club than Allan Preston or Michael Stewart has.

Hearts men my ****in arse.

As an aside, Hibs were ‘Sensational’ and ‘Wonderful’ today.

**** the BBC.

Agree with you. I stopped listening just after Walker scored the fourth. McCann was okay, the rest oh dear. How biscuits Preston gets a regular slot I'll never know. No insight, no analysis and no brain.

According to Stewart, "Uche Ikpeazu on the right wing did not work for me."  Funny that since he picked up a lot of the long crossfield balls that have been going astray for weeks now and worried the hell out of the left back every time the ball was in that part of the pitch.

Thankfully, I don't have to listen to this nonsense during the game since I prefer the insight of Jimmy Sandison on Hearts TV.

Stewart at first was a breath of fresh air , now like when he was playing , he thinks he knows better ALL the time , just like CL did . He is no longer any better or worse than the rest of them .

Honestly haven’t listened in for ages. Past experience of listening to nonsense and, clear agenda holding, nobodies.

Compared to English coverage, they’re laughable.
They may scoff and titter at Hearts, but they seem to perform even worse at their jobs.

The BBC are not biased against us. A bunch of bell ends associated with Scottish football will always, correctly, identify a well-run Hearts as a threat.  They can’t stand that.

I’m fairly confident we’ll have these ***** eating their words by May.

Richard Gordon made a comment before the match about the communications infrastructure in the new stand not being up to standard.  Couldn't help but feel the contrast with the total absence of coverage from inside Ibrox for three (?) years now...

I didn’t think Stewart was too bad today, thought he was the voice of reason actually after listening to both Preston and Miller slavour a load of nonsense

His point about Uche wasn’t that ridiculous, I don’t think you get the best of him playing on the wing, his final ball isn’t good enough.

Prestons comment about our Academy not working and producing talent was the one that angered me, I think it was along the lines of “they haven’t produced anyone decent since Paterson, and Hickey was from Celtic not hearts academy” he also said we were using the Man City Academy with getting Meshino......the guy is so factually wrong on so many levels with everything he said today, yet he is one of BBCs go to people when they want to talk about Hearts.

I think it comes down how close minded those within Scottish football actually are. I think they buy right into nobody outside the OF is worth anything.

Ultimately, Macphee quite rightly see's the potential this club has and with the right leadership and strategy in place we could qualify for europe. Things like summer football would undoubtedly make things easier but folk running the game have this perception that summer football is acceptance we're 'not a footballing country', or some such nonsense. Many of the Scandinavian countries have adopted summer football and the outcome is actually qualifying for Europe. Look how far Aberdeen pushed Burnley, ourselves with Liverpool. We can compete if we're on our game, so why make things needlessly harder for ourselves? Adopt summer football and go into europe with a squad that is sharp and ready to compete rather than treating it like some preseason friendly.

Been saying the same, absolute bawbags. Preston has zero enthusiasm or anything good to say and Willie Millers pre game rant was ludicrous, I actually though Michael Stewart did put down WM's pointless comments.

The post game fawning over Hibs compared to the Hearts post game comments were chalk and cheese. I usually listen to the Sportsound podcast but I'm thinking of binning it.

Stewart was quite fair today and stuck up for Hearts on a number of issues. The rest of them were just sticking boot in at every opportunity. Willie Millers was outraged at Macphees suggestion that Hearts should be aiming to get regular europa league football.

Have to say i listened to all of Sportsound today and couldnt disagree more. I certainly dont recall Preston or Willie Miller making the comments you claim. Stewart and Preston were both praising MacPhee but agreed he isnt the man for the job, they criticised the defending and his team selection/tactics last week, also mention Uche playing on the right didnt work. Yeah Stewart has issues with Levein and did say we wouldnt have scored 5 under Levein, i tend to agree. And yeah they had a laugh at MacPhee`s interview, only because he mentioned winning 4 out of 5 games at least 3 times!

So the BBC now have an agenda to be thrown in along with the referees?

What a big steaming pile of pish, it's a group of guys giving they're opinion and it doesn't necessarily fit with everyone elses.

AM has been part of the utter shit show for the last 3 to 4 years so I can see why some folk would take a dislike in the way he is coming across(although I personally think he is just trying to show AB he is his own man)  , not to mention hands down the worst tactical show last week since laptop bob was in charge.

I heard a bit before the game where they were talking about our vacancies and structure, and the shite they were slavering was staggering. McCann said Budge had said in her press conference that she knew hardly anything about football, and he then said you'd have thought she'd have learned a bit by then. Budge actually said she knew nothing when she took over but her and the rest of the board had learned quite a bit, hence the sporting director role being a bit different from the previous DoF role and the fact the next manager will report to the CEO rather than to the DoF. There was also loads of talk about how they need to appoint the sporting director first because they'll  be the manager's boss, despite her having categorically stated he won't be.

3 of the pundits (Preston,  McCann and Stewart) today are clearly pro Hearts, so I cant see it as a BBC agenda against Hearts.

What there was however,  was some pretty poor punditry from Miller on MacPhee's Europa League comments and there was some confusion on the Sporting Director role, despite Ann Budge already stating that the role would not be the same as DoF.

How was he wrong? He is a Hearts fan, like the rest of us, he is probably more aware infact he is more aware of what goes on behind the scenes than most of us are. He will know Levein is still floating around the first team etc

The football dept. needs cleared out, you`re crazy if you think otherwise.

McCann was the one who surprised me, having a go at Naismith for "Managing" on the park, he said he should concentrate on his job more as he can end up forget what he is supposed to be doing.

Levein isnt 'floating' anywhere near the first team. Preston is clueless and offers nothing, he was telling everyone last week that FoH money gets put towards new players and wages.

Yup exactly. As paid pundits,  there's no excuse for them not having done their research on how Budge described the role.
