Mikey1874
It is also notable, maybe for the first time ever that the top British athletes now are 2 women. Mo Farah perhaps can just about still claim a place if he can avoid being tainted by association to a drugs cheat. ToadKiller Dog
The woman's side of events not just from the excellent GB womans team right through has been far more watchable and competitive. Mens athletics is missing real character at the moment it's a bit drab ,the 400m hurdles the only stand out mens event I've seen so far . Malinga the Swinga
Wonder how long it will be before Hassan is found to be cheating. The link to Salalzar is over whelming and if you think that 1500 was good, her 10k finish was unbelievable. As with super Mo, the clock is ticking till banned substances uncovered. If you read into Salazar, the whole of Nike's approach to drugs and cheating seems to be do what ever is required and to hell with the rules. The number of cheats they are linked to is shocking. After a small period of time enter them in competitions and see how they do

Add to that the fact that doping has long term health risks for athletes. It's bad enough as it is now. Regulation is the only way out of the hole, and nations like the UK and USA constantly appealing stuff and getting people reinstated at the same time as lobbying for Russia to have a blanket ban is pure hypocrisy. Heidi/Andreas Krieger is an extremem example of what can happen: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Krieger Quote Krieger was systematically doped with steroids from the age of 16 onward. According to Werner Franke and Brigitte Berendonk's 1991 book, Doping: From Research to Deceit, Krieger took almost 2,600 milligrams of steroids in 1986 alone— nearly 1,000 milligrams more than Ben Johnson took during the 1988 Summer Olympics. As early as the age of 18, Krieger began developing visibly male characteristics. Eventually, years of doping left him with many masculine traits. By 1997, at the age of 31, Krieger underwent sex reassignment surgery and changed his name to Andreas. Krieger had "felt out of place and longed in some vague way to be a boy", and said in a 2004 New York Times interview that he was "glad that he became a man". However, he felt that receiving hormones without his consent deprived him of the right to "find out for myself which sex I wanted to be." Krieger's sex change operation dominated Germany's news headlines and focused widespread attention on the legacy of doping in East Germany, leading other former athletes to speak out in public for the first time.
