gggggareth
Apologies if this is old news, but my girlfriend was watching a series called "Succession" on HBO. Series 2, Episode 8, to be precise. And in a plot twist they started talking about buying Scottish football team "the Hearts", and then they go and do so! As a gift for the main character (played by Brian Cox). jamboinglasgow
Was surprised that it took so long for a thread on this. Also thought that as Brian Cox's character is from Dundee you would have thought they would have gone with him being a Dundee United fan and his son buying Dundee thinking it was his team. Love us being mentioned on a big American tv show (have we been mentioned by any other ones?) and being crucial to a sub plot. Adds to other mentions of Scottish teams in American shows such as Celtic in Lost and Heroes, and the 2014 League cup final between Aberdeen and Inverness mentioned of Marvels Agents of Shield. joondalupjambo
A few references in Eddie the Eagle to the 5-1 Cup Final and also Hearts. A bus stop has the 51 bus and there is a washing line with a Hearts strip on it. Think there was a third thing but cannot remember what it was. Was it not something to do with the set designer not being a Jambo?

rossaldinho
Not a TV show but there's a reference in a Halo game. There's a spaceship called the UNSC Heart of Midlothian - one of the development directors lived in Edinburgh and is a Hearts man.

MMHearts
Easy to understand the confusion. Brian Cox has obviously told his sons that he supports the biggest, most successful football club in Edinburgh. They’ve checked Wikipedia and assumed, like everyone else, it’s the Hearts. I’ve watched the clip and you can see the confusion on the son’s face when he’s told it’s Hibs.....

There's loads of Edinburgh/Scotland references across the GTA games. The games are (mainly) developed in the old Scotsman building down next to Holyrood. Vlad, Roman, and Niko (Miko) are in GTA IV. I'm sure one of them wore a maroon top with Hummel-style chevrons on the sleeves. There are green and maroon-ish gang colours in San Andreas. Steve_Jersey_HMFC
Recently binged succession right up to s2ep9, and ep10 is on next week its a decent solid show. Not sure I would watch it through again but an enjoyable watch. Found Roman and Tom very irritating at first but actually Matthew McFadden (who was excellent in Spooks) has really grown into the role and Im used to him with an American accent now. s2ep8 was probably the best episode, with the few mentions of “the Hearts” and Gregory’s “you know, I was thinking we could negotiate an, I dont know, GREXIT sort of thing?” theres also a training session with the “hearts players” that Roman gives a typical yank who know nothing about football speech to in ep9

I'm sure there's more, better hidden references throughout the game series. And who could forget Lovefist ❤👊 I'm going to give succession a try, I always enjoy watching Brian Cox
