A bit, but it's much better and has a more complex taste with much greater depth of flavour. When I started drinking hefeweiss, it was Erdinger I usually went for (partly as it was the most widely-available one in Scotland at the time), but when I tried some of the others I realised what I'd been missing. Erdinger's OK, but pretty one-dimensional compared with Weihenstephaner, Paulaner, Franziskaner, Schneider Weiss, Hacker Pschorr, Maisels and the like. The Brauhaus as was (dunno what it's like now, or even if it's still open) was a great place to try all of these and many more! Whenever I go to a pub if they don't have a decent beer/ale available I'll just go straight to the whisky or rum.

Alan_R
just back from prague. There are many good ones but Pilsner Urquell takes a bit of beating. Out of the mass produced one Pilsner Uquell and Staropramen must be up there. I like Budvar too even though alot of the czechs wouldnt thank you for it. Cascade (tasmania) and Corfu Brewery are another couple that i've really liked. Closer to home the Wee Braw beer from the brewery at hardengreen is lovely as well.
