Bohemian Rhapsody Film: Edinburgh Concert

JKB,

Just watched Bohemian Rhapsody and its a TEN - if you haven't seen it, a must!

There's a big turning point in the bands career when they perform a pivotal concert in Edinburgh in 1976.

The stage looks like the Usher Hall (doubt they used that though), any veterans know where they played? Even better, did anyone go?

Appreciate any recollections of seeing the band live.

I was to young to see them in Edinburgh for this concert, but I was lucky enough to be at Knebworth for their last ever concert back in August ‘86 and it was tremendous. I still have the T-shirt, programme and managed to blag a pass from one of the Status Quo roadies.

It was in The Playhouse. September1976.

It was the very first gig I ever went to. It didn’t seem too remarkable to me at the time and I can hardly remember much about about it now! I remember Freddie wearing a leotard and a very long Brian May guitar solo.

Freddie threw some roses into the crowd too.

A robust centre forward

Yes it was at the Playhouse. I was there on the first of two nights. It was during the festival and the Playhouse which was in danger of being demolished was granted a special entertainment licence. Over a couple of weeks, amongst others some bands attached to the John Reid stable performed. If I recall, among them were Elton John, Gallacher & Lyall, Daryll Hall & John Oates. By the way Queen were brilliant. The success of these concerts helped to save the Playhouse

Queen did play the Caley Picture House earlier and also played Ingliston in the early 80s

Dagger Is Back

It was the Playhouse. We were in the front row of the balcony or circle whatever it was called.

The ticket price?

Pretty sure it was £1

. Freddy fell off the stage in 1973 but jumped straight back up seemingly unhurt.

Sure was, and later managed that Riverdance guy, who he also had a relationship with (to add a piece of useless info).

He was in both.

Played by Richard Madden in Rocketman and played by Aiden "Littlefinger" Gillen in Bohemian Rhapsody.
