Jeez, just dropped my daughter off at her new uni accommodation on Fountainbridge on Sunday. This is about 400 yards away! Hopefully nobody injured in this. (daughter fine but aware of it).

Tollcross Primary shut tomorrow. Speaking to some parents and they are in a state of shock.

So close to the school gate.

Im presuming the school would have been finished for the day.

There was kids playing in the playground, and had it happened an hour or so earlier, the street would have been extremely busy with children walking home.

Thankfully, the explosion occurred at a time when no one was directly underneath the falling masonry otherwise there would have been fatalities.

Why are some people in shock about a fatal explosion yards from where their children attend school?!?!?

Perhaps not public knowledge, but those who were aware of the extent of the damage would have known it was a major incident, resulting in lots of damage and flying debris. The fact someone died is hardly surprising to anyone who has seen the damage at reasonably close quarters.

This happening in late afternoon will have been particularly shocking to those of us who are often going about our business there at that time of day.
