Any recommendations JKB'ers?

Contacted my IPTV provider at the weekend to get a multi-room deal.  I am using the Firestick and although the signal is okay, it can cause buffering at times.  Happened a couple of times during the game last night.  Works fine downstairs where the WiFi router is so looking to get something to boost the signal upstairs.  We are with Sky and I know they do them but can't find a price online.  However I have seen one in Currys for around £20.  Don't really want to spend too much given it's only for one thing really, so anyone know if the Curry's one would be handy enough?

We have always had problems with ny internet over the years. At one point, we were only getting 0.52🙀🙀🙀

Tried all different boosters and nothing worked. We recently managed to get Virgin and thought that this would be the end of our problems. We started getting 105mb downstairs, but it would keep dropping off and in two rooms upstairs it was struggling to even register. We bought these below and the speed jumped to around 125mb, even in those two rooms upstairs. I can’t rate these high enough...10/10

Not sure what one Currys are selling but I know a couple of people who’ve bought one of these and seem decent.

Still getting bother?!

They’re about £250 though aren’t they?

Heard they’re good though.

Do you have SkyQ from Sky?

The Q system means that the Router, the main Sky Q Box and any mini boxes all act as wifi hotspots, i've never had coverage throughout the house that is this good, might not be superfast but more than enough for our usage and prefer reliable connection to blisteringly fast speeds tbh

They are expensive, but after years and years of frustration, they were worth every penny. You know what I’ve been through and now I’m streaming FHD and Blu-ray. This is the model I bought...

I had seen that one on the Argos website and it has great reviews. The one in Currys was similar price.

It's just broadband and it's great, but the bedroom just seems recently to be a bit of a black spot, Netflix and on demand buffering a lot, having to reset the firestick etc.

I'd be looking for a powerline adaptor instead. TP link or the like. A WiFi booster will only amplify the weekened signal it gets from the central point that you plug it in at.

I'd be going with a cheap Powerline setup if I was you, for 35 quid you can turn a black spot room into one with a great connection using your home's existing wiring.

I have something similar to this for my iptv box. I use the ethernet port for a direct connection but the wifi is good quality too.

I got mine for 15 quid in cash converters, they always seem to have them!

Sky have just released a new router too, something like an extra fiver a month but comes with a guarantee that you won't have blackspots around the house

I didn't even think of that to be honest.

They probably gave some poor sod a fiver for them.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already but here are some handy tips that certainly help me as I have the same issue.

1. Ensure that when you watch the stream no-one else in the house also has a connected device to your network.  This is to say take all phones and tablets etc off the wi-fi.

2. Go to app store and download a broadband app for whatever internet provider you are. This way you can not only control who uses your network channel you can change channel to one with less traffic (this could be your neighbors or people in a below or upstairs flat.

My stream kept continually buffering, turned out the reason was my Amazon firestick, 2 x mobile phones and 2 x tablets effectively jam it.

Hope this helps.

Really depends on what each device is doing, modern routers are capable of having multiple devices connected without issue, unless you have every device dowloading a film/playing online games etc

New Sky Broadband router has space for 64 connected devices as an example, we regularly can have 2 phones, 2 laptops, sky q main box, sky q mini box, alexa and an xbox all connected without issue on speeds of roughly 20 meg

This just a simple plug into the router job and then other sockets around the house?

My Ps4 connection for example is ****ing atrocious but it’s wireless so I assume I just connect the netgear extender to my PS4 via Ethernet

Probably. I usually check Facebook marketplace first for stuff like that, but a bargain's a bargain

I have a few of these providing excellent speeds around my house, despite 4' thick walls. Even got a link to the garden shed :D

I had all sorts of bother in my house with weak signals, and tried different TP, Netgear, etc, boosters but nothing worked well. I finally got the BT Mesh system installed last year and now have a very good coverage all over my house, including garden office, Front door ring device and garage camera.

I got a pack of 3 mesh discs for 150 pounds. Expensive, but well worth it.

We've used TPLINK for about 3 years now in 2 different houses,  very reliable and do the job. Plus you can take it from one room to another and just plug it in as necessary.
