Harry Potter

My son came in from work yesterday with this collection of Hearts games and the press reports from the daily record and sunday mail.

Anyone else remember this, i certainly dont remember it coming out, cant find a date on the collection.

Great report on our famous win at Easter road with Foster scoring to get us through to the big cup quarters in 1994.

Anther great report on our 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid on sept 1993 , scorers Robbo and Colquhoun in the Uefa cup in front of 15596.

Nightmare was to follow losing 3-0 in spain in front of 35000 folk.

Nice one. I don’t remember it.

It was first published a few years ago, and there has been at least one update since. I have a couple in my room.

My folks got me one a few years back. I love it. I think it stops after the 5-1. One thing I noticed is the total difference in the quality of the reports.

Harry?

Your sons book looked familiar to one I have, so I dug it out. It’s not the same, but here’s a photo of it anyhow.

I received a copy from my sister for my sixtieth, a fantastic keepsake and the only thing my my daughter has mentioned going to her when I shuffle off this mortal coil

I just went up and checked but it has no publishing date on it. I could only find one of my copies, and the final newspaper cutting is "King Vlad the Mad" after beating Gretna in the cup final, but as I say it did get updated.

More like it probably, Dave.

We should get that old fool @jonnothejambo involved in this conversation.

On second thoughts, he’d probably prefer the one about size.  :)

But nothing beats Albert Mackie's wonderful book.

Of all the Hearts books I have lost or given away over the years, that is the one I regret most.

Got my copy of that for 50p John Menzies, Princes Street.

Had a few autographs in the back of it!

It’s also where I keep my much treasured message and autograph from Dave Mackay.

Салатные палочки

I got one for Christmas a few years ago. I think a few places do them but its generally the same articles inside. Can get it personalised. Great looking back on some memorable results.

It came out about seven or eight years ago I think. Not really a history at all. Just a collection of match reports from the Record and Sunday Mail. OK if you like that sort of thing, I suppose. Still readily available on ebay. I suspect they print them to order.

The 1984 Pictorial History is a much better book and is a reasonably comprehensive history of the club up to that date. Never had a dust jacket.

I wish it was possible to do a re run of the Pictorial History using modern day technology to recreate the older images that were/are glass slides. Taking into account the book was done 35 years ago there are a few images that are not exactly highest quality but that's simply due to the reproduction methods at the time, a brilliant book none the less.
