He didnt really pass through (4 years) but David Obua is now assistant manager at a team called Maroons FC.  Most interestingly their home ground is within a maximum security prison..

Mauricio Pinilla, the best striker to only ever play 5 league games for us. After leaving us, became a two time Copa America winner, played in the WC finals, averaged 7 goals or so a season in Sere A for a while, became a bicycle kick specialist. Still plays in the top Chile league. We could have had him at his peak. Imagine how many he would have scored for us!

Some bad ones there but I’ll throw David Winnie, Fraser Wishart and Leigh Jenkinson into the mix.......glad they were just passing through and didn’t stay any longer!

Remember his break-out season well.

Alexandros Tziolis

Now at Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia.

Just a pass through with Hearts but his football CV makes for pretty decent reading. I didn't really know what to make of him......... Scored at Motherwell then didn't really do much else

He was a class above.

Soon lost interest after realising he was playing with amateurs.

What about Justin Fashanu.  11 Games and 1 goal (I barely remember it, but it was against Partick Thistle and may have went in off his arse).  Well, we all know what happened after that.

Colin Cramb - 1 goal in 6 games.  I think he was a hamster cheeks signing.  Went on to play for fifteen clubs after leaving us, including 23 games and 5 goals for Fortuna Sittard.

His only goal looked a screamer, but taken a huge deflection.

Probably only thing that didn't go in of his arse... (too far?)

Remember when he started against AEK Athens in the Champions League while Jankauskas and Pinilla were sat on the bench?

Abiola Dauda, now playing in the Greek leagues. Thought he was pretty underrated and did OK in a short spell here.

Hjalmar Thorarninsson (age 33). Playing for Berserkir and rattling a 70 year old according to wiki.

He scored v. Motherwell in the wee cup semi at Easter Road in 2005. I left at 2-0 down with 10 mins to go and we got it back to 2-2 before losing in ET.

Colin Cramb had played in the English Premier League before us. Southampton.

I liked Rossi but was never that keen on Ozturk in all honesty. For a central defender he was poor in the air and lacked aggression IMO.

Too much stupid stuff in that tie - 3 sent off - 1 booked and ultimately sent off for wearing an earing, another a second yellow for throwing the ball away. :(

If we had been better at managing him, having a levein or McPhee type to monitor him closely, nurture him - he would have been in the legend books. Unbelievable that we managed to sign him, even on loan.

Gary Glen, score a grant total of 13 league goals in his career. Have to wonder how they make it through the academy. Thanks for the goal at easter road however.

Lad had all the talent in the world to be fair. Lacked ambition and self confidence though.

Also enjoyed a bevy or five.

Glen and Eliot were the two a remember. both very highly rated coming through the ranks and both retired before 30.

Glen was only 26!

I think Paterson was the next highly rated striker but he ended up fulfilling his potential with us. Albeit in a different position.

Nowhere near as bad as people made out but I suppose Sow was a tough act to follow, ironically a man whose career hasn't panned out well since leaving Hearts

He nearly didnt make it through the Academy.  His Dad was approached by Manchester City and agreed he would sign his first pro contract with them. ... Mum thought different..

Dumitru Copil

Currently playing in the third tier of Romanian football (I think) with ACS Progresul Pecica

Here's an article from 2017 that came up when I searched him:

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/10-years-ago-hearts-kid-11447701

Branimir Kostadinov was around Hearts at the same time as Copil and I think his brother posted on here regularly telling us how good he was.

He is currerntly at Ludogrorets Razgrad II in Bulgaria. He never seemed to hit the heights his brother promised!

I'll wager that was the finest moment of his career.  He looks so slow and nothing like a professional footballer.  I could run better than that.

I was there and the only good thing about it was that I was to drunk to fully remember the horror (cheapest way we could find to go to the game was a week 18-30's to Malia and then fly up to athens on the day of the game)

A quick look at Wikipedia shows he's played for 9 clubs since leaving us. Seems to have scored a fair bit for his latest club in the lower divisions of Austria.

Dylan Bikey is now playing in 4th tier of French pyramid with Jeanne D'Arc de Drancy. Despite his goalscoring at the binos he hasn't scored since.

The end of season 2017/2018 was a bit of a clear out with 20 players departing.

Juanjo. 42 now and playing for Horta in the 4th tier of Spanish football.

Mirsad Beslija.  I haven't a clue what he's doing, but whatever it is I bet he's bloody quick at it.

Lee Hollis, on the books for 2 weeks in August 2015, played two games during our wee goalkeeping crisis then released. Can't remember if he was any good or not.
